Madison:
KEEPING MY HEAD low, I walked down the hall of the school I go to. Monarch High, the name is dumb, but it's supposed to be one of the best schools down here in Florida. I scoffed in my head as I thought about that one commercial the school ran one time, it had this dumb, but catchy theme song I can't think of at the moment. I heard laughter and sighed as I walked towards the crowd of the school, here we go.
"Move, loser" said Lauren as she bumped into me, her friends laughing in the background. I gathered my papers which scattered on the floor and looked at her "Excuse me" I tried to push pass her, and luckily, she let me go. Walking to my locker, I opened it, seeing a note fall out of it. 'Meet me in the cafeteria, far table, you know the one' it read, and had no name, just anonymous.
Sighing, I tucked the paper in my pocket, feeling kind of happy I got a note, but a little twisted since no one here likes me. At this school, if you aren't good looking and the perfect weight, you are practically dead meat, which is where I am on the scale; with my tangled brown hair, glasses, and practically being 200 pounds.
I shook my head, willing away any and all negative thought's as I closed my locker and made my way to my first and best class, art. Since I have no friends, and am not social whatsoever, I drew to pass the time and so I wouldn't feel too lonely. Smiling at my favorite teacher Mr. B, I sat in my seat and waited for my class to begin.
~Lunch~
I sighed for what seems like the thousandth time today as I made my way out of my fourth period class, history. I remembered the little note stashed in my pocket as I stopped and put my stuff in my locker, and grabbing my little lunch, stuffing that in my backpack. I closed my locker and made my way to the cafeteria, knowing that I would have to face whoever it was sooner or later.
The school rules states you can only eat lunch in the huge cafeteria we have, and luckily I found a nice little corner table where nobody sits, kind of near the lunch ladies but not really. My footsteps were slow and sluggish as I made my way to the cafeteria. I walked through the door and kept my head down at all the snob-ish heads turning my way.
I made my way to my usual table and my head perked up a little as I seen who was sitting at it. There sat the school's youngest football player, being in varsity in 10th grade, which was usually filled with only juniors and seniors. My eyebrows furrowed as I walked closer and he smiled. Walking to the table I sat in my usual seat and he turned to me.
"So you got my note?" he questioned and I raised my eyebrow, my voice soft and dull as I spoke "So that was you?" he nodded "What do you want?" I questioned and he raised his eyebrows at me "What makes you think I want something?" he questioned and I let out a silent laugh "I know who you hang out with, and besides, nobody likes me" I shrugged and I could see his face grow softer.
He was about to speak when "You bitch!" and then cold, I shivered and reached up to my hair, I felt a cold liquid substance and looked at her hand, she poured her milkshake on me. "Flirting with MY boyfriend" she said and walked over to Hunter, who grabbed her waist. Before I could get the chance to speak he spoke up.
"Yeah, she was trying to get me to leave you" he told her and I shook my head "That's not true!" I exclaimed and she scoffed "Yeah right, we were totally right about you" she said and Hunter nodded his head "What?" I questioned quietly. Lauren let out a laugh and he clique along with Hunter did too.
"That you're nothing more than a fat, loser whore." she spat and I flinched a little, as I held back the tears that threatened to slip pass my eyes "And a nerd, don't forget about that" she cackled and I held my head down "You should be thankful I spilled my smoothie on you, it was healthy, maybe now you can lose a few pounds" she laughed and I wiped my eyes.
Grabbing the note firmly in my hand, I threw it in front of Hunter and looked them dead in the eyes "You will regret this, I'll make you eat those words" I said and grabbed my bag, rushing out of the hall and quickly out of the school as I could, beginning my walk home.
After about 30 minutes, I walked into the garage of my fairly large house. My parents are very wealthy people, with my dad being the CEO of this large company, and my mom being a model and interior designer, we have money. They felt that if I was comfortable with how I looked, then they wouldn't use their money on me, only when I was ready.
I opened the door and called out "Mom!" I called "Mama!" I heard a faint call back "Yes mija!" she called and I walked to where I heard her voice at. My mother was born and raised in Guatemala, but became a US citizen when she met my dad, who was born in New York.
"Oh Petal, what's wrong?" she questioned, my mother has called me petal since I was young, since my middle name is Rose. "The kids at school, I just don't want to go there anymore" I told her and she nodded. "What do you want to do then, homeschooling?" she questioned me and I shook my head.
"I want to get away from this town" I said and then perked up, "You know aunt May in England, can I go stay there for a year and work on myself and start fresh and then come back my senior year" I said after a moment of thought, "Well I would discuss it with your father, but I don't see why not" she said "Where is papa?" I questioned "Where else? Work. Now come on, we have some packing to do"
