The moment Jonathan and Violet stepped into Tina's house they realized the party was going to be a mess.

It was no later than 7pm and people were already drunk and high, in all combinations of all the substances ever imaginable. A girl, dressed as a cheetah ran pass them and threw up on a flowerpot. Violet groaned in disgust, she even doubted to have a drink, the scenario was just to crazy. She spotted her friend, Brandon, playing beer pong next to Steve Harrington. Besides them Nancy Wheeler danced awkwardly as she drank straight from her red cup. Violet found the way she bounced her head to the music adorable, but shook her head once she remembered she was there to be with Steve not with someone else, not with her.

As if Nancy could hear her thoughts, the girl's blue eyes met Violet's across the room. It was a moment of pure, silent, interaction. It was late for Violet to look away since Nancy was walking towards her.

"You made it!" Nancy exclaimed and hugged her, Violet could smell cigarettes and beer in her hair and not the usual coconut scent she'd usually have.

"Yeah, so did you..." Violet said poking at her arm, awkwardly. Nancy started to laugh, she grabbed Violet's shoulder to hold onto something and started to cry out of laughter. Violet turned to look at Jonathan confused.

"I think she's drunk" Jonathan pointed out.

"You think?" Violet asked sarcastically. She grabbed Nancy's arm and walked her away from that spot, since it was the entrance to the house and people would just pass by. On the way, Nancy dipped her red cup in the punch so the liquid would filled the cup again. They sat on a couch, and Nancy offered the drink to Violet. She accepted it and tasted the sourness, she could only imagine how much alcohol Nancy had taken to that point of the night.

"I missed you" Nancy gripped into Violet's arm. She leaned her head on her chest and stared at a couple of teens making out in front of them.

"It's fine Nance, I think we are okay now"

"But it's not!" She whined "I completely ghosted you"

"Nancy, just let it go" Violet said pushing her away "You're drunk"

Nancy stared reactionless, it wasn't as if she was thinking about something since her mind was completely emptied by the moment. All she felt like doing was leaning over and kiss her, a small kiss on the lips would do just fine.

But before she could actually commit the crime, a couple of hands grabbed her shoulders, startling her. Nancy looked up at Steve and smiled, she pulled him down and kissed him instead. Violet rolled her eyes, that was an unnecessary scene for her to witness. She stood up and left Nancy and Steve behind.

The water was cold but also relaxing. Violet swinged her legs at the sidelines of the pool as she recklessly drink her third beer of the night, she wasn't really thinking rather she was analyzing. Was she losing her feelings for Nancy? Or was she just annoyed of her relationship scrubbed in her face? Violet shook her head and all the deep thoughts off, she instead focussed on looking at the people.

"Why are you so lonely tonight?" Brandon took a seat next to her, he rolled his jeans up before he could submerge his legs into the pool.

"Because I'm a lonely person. And I will die alone" Violet said, a bit drunk at this point, and took a sip from her beer.

"Do you know how annoyingly cliché you sound right now?" Brandon asked at her and took the drink from her hands "I think you need to get laid, Violet Johnson... that's what's missing"

"I do not need to get laid" Violet said with a slight tone of irony on her voice. She shook her head and fought Brandon to get her beer back.

"I mean seriously... you are a pretty girl, and there's a whole lot more of pretty girls around that would love to have a gay experience before college" Brandon shrugged "All I'm saying is, perhaps you need to let go of a certain blue eyed, brown haired girl"

Violet blinked without a response for a second. She stared at the water, and most importantly the reflection of people in the water. Maybe he was right. All Violet has ever known and loved was Nancy Wheeler, but maybe there's more to her, maybe there's actually other girls that would like to have a date with another girl.

Violet realized, and felt so stupid in that moment, that she was not the only lesbian in the universe. Violet laughed at the thought of it and looked at Brandon, she nodded continuously. "Like who?"

Brandon almost choked in his drink, he wasn't expecting for Violet to give up on that moment. He wiped a couple of beer stains from his shirt and neck and looked around the house.

"I heard once Greta Rogers chose you on a truth or dare game" Brandon said pointing to a strawberry blonde girl talking to her friends.

"That doesn't mean she likes girls, Bran"

"You'll never know unless you try out" Brandon challenged her. He practically defied her to go talk to that girl and have a great night. Violet felt unsure, she hadn't really flirted with anyone before. Without her even noticing it she stood up and started to walk closer to the group of friends. Her heart was beating faster and faster and her legs trembled every step she made.

"Hey"

"Hi..." one of them said, well asked. There was an awkward silence and Violet contemplated going back, until her eyes met Greta's.

"You okay?" she asked, it was the first time Violet heard her voice outside of math class.

"Yeah, no... I'm great I just wanted to ask where did you get that?" Violet asked, pointing at the blunt that Greta had in between her fingers.

"This?" Greta asked and laughed "Well, it's a secret"

"I get it. My step brother does weed all the time" Violet said and laughed awkwardly. Greta stared at her confused.

"You want to?" Greta said, handing her the blunt. Violet stared at it doubtfully, she wasn't really going to say yes but if she said no than her whole excuse and set up would fall into pieces.

"Sure" Violet lied "But, not publicly... I have a reputation you know"

Greta scoffed, she looked at her friends and gave them a sign Violet wouldn't recognize. Greta grabbed her hand and walked with her into the house. Violet turned around to face Brandon, whose face was filled with shock. They walked past by Nancy and Steve, kissing in a corner of the kitchen, which pissed Violet even more now.

Greta opened the door of a big room, which seemed to be the parents' room, and locked it. She handed the blunt, once again, to Violet and this time the blonde girl took it. She inhaled it, and let the smoke out immediately, Greta laughed.

"You are doing it wrong" she said and took it from her "You kinda have to retain it in your throat for a while, like this..." she did a quick demo and handed it to her again.

Violet tried again, and failed. She started coughing and whipped the smoke from her face with her hand.

"I'm so sorry, I thought I'd be better at this" Violet said ashamed, that was all a bad idea. Greta wasn't even remotely interested on her, she felt stupid. Before Violet could walk away, the girl grabbed her arm once again and pushed her closer. Violet could smell the weed from her body, mixed with a soft scent of mangos. The thought of Greta smelling like mangos and weed was funny to her, since she had associated Nancy with coconut and alcohol before.

As a shock for Violet, Greta pressed her lips against hers. It was a soft, long, kiss. She pulled some hairs from Violet's face and caressed her skin with her fingers.

Violet jumped towards her, kissing her passionately. She felt this was her only shot at being with another girl that wasn't Nancy. But, at the end of the day, Violet would always go back to Nancy. No matter what.
