lonely

Even through the sadness in my brain, I run a knife on my skin in vain. It just gets harder and harder to control all this pain and people are leading me away, now I'm wandering through the rain and trying not to fall to my knees and scream out from inside my brain.

The loneliest girl in the world was what she felt like, practicing her pathetic smiles in the mirror.

Just pretending like she was an actress, no one seemed to notice anyway so what was wrong with continuing her charade? She wore black high waisted jeans and an over sized pink hoodie with her ballet shoes. Hair done up in a short ponytail.

She took in a deep breath, now stepping out of her comfortable bed and into some clothes she had picked out. Ok, step one completed.

She picked herself up from the chaise she had plopped on when her mother knocked on the trap door, a fake smile covering her face instantly.

The muffled voice came through the floor, "Marinette? Are you up, you'll be late if you sleep in for too much longer!"

She sighed, sometimes that's all she wanted to do. Sleep in for as long as she could, but of course, school couldn't wait.

"Yes, Mama, I'm awake."

Then the steps seemed to recede from the staircase that lead to her room.
"Come and grab breakfast so you'll be good on the way!"

She pouted and her eyes trailed down her body to see the pudge on her abdomen. She can't eat like she used to, not now that the akumas had backed off.

Her stomach growled, Tikki giggling at the obviousness of her hunger.

"No thanks mom, I'm fine!" She yelled back to her mother, who in turn held a smile to her voice. "Ok, come take a snack for the road then!"

She grabbed a blue berry muffin and walked out with her chipper smile, today had to be a good day.
Please let it be good.

She walked into the building and immediately took a seat on a bench. Her stomach growled her again, ok then. Maybe just a little would be ok to have, just for today...

She picked off the muffin top, her head yelling at her to stop.

You're not supposed to be eating this!

You're going to get fatter!

She just rolled her eyes at herself, eating what she wanted off the fluffy muffin until the bell rang.

She had eaten half, thankful and deeply regretting the fact she had eaten so much...

Everyone rushed to their morning classes, Marinette's first hour being Madame Bustier alongside plenty of other people she most definitely didn't talk to.

For the most part, the entire morning was silent. The students only lightly chatted throughout the class as she doodled, a lot of her teachers had been out for whatever reason and majority having subs.

Lunch. Her most beloved and hated time of the day.

It means she had to eat, but thanks to the cafeteria she wouldn't have to go home. But she still thought about food, hating herself for even the memory of food.
