Asta POV

I knew he would be here. Me and Yuno always had hopes of making it into the magic knights and taking this exam would determine exactly that. I had gotten a good look at his face after I had whispered into his ear. For the first time in what felt like forever, I had finally seen him scared. I loved that look of fear on his face. It made me ecstatic to know that something actually scared him and he isn't just the courageous guy he probably thinks he is. I can't wait to show him my power and see that frightened face of his again....

Asta smiled at Yuno before he turned and walked away. Before he could get far, however, he bumped into someone. This person seemed way too big to be the same age as Asta. "Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." Asta apologized as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. Even though he was part of the Eye Of The Midnight Sun now, he was still the same old Asta, somewhat. The man looked at Asta and darkly responded, "Hey kid, watch it. You gotta death wish or something?" Everyone was muttering amongst themselves as they realized that man was the captain of the Black Bulls. His name was Yami Sukehiro and everyone knew him for having the worst group ever. The group would always come in last in everything. No one messed with him for it though. Yami was also known for being really scary and intimidating. "Man, you look old. You must have had a hard life!" Asta exclaimed as he put his hand on Yami's shoulder. Suddenly Yami grabbed Asta's head and started to lift him off of the ground. "It appears that you are ready to die." Yami said. Instead of screaming like a normal person, Asta grabbed the Yami's arm and started to squeeze it tightly. "Let. Me. Go." Asta demanded as his muscles started to bulge and his grip became even tighter. Yami was sort of impressed by this. He placed him back on the ground and Asta let go of his arm. They started to stare into each other's eyes, as if they were having a personal staring contest seeing who would look away first. The people around them were completely bewildered. Anyone who had the guts to stand up to Yami was either really strong, really brave, or really crazy. In Asta's case however, it was all of the above. Their staring was interrupted by someone saying, "Captain, what are you doing here? The exams are about to start, we have to go." Yami turned to look at the man who had interfered with the contest, which means that Asta had won. Asta smirked to himself still staring at Yami. "He will be fun to play with." Asta thought to himself. "Yeah, Yeah. I'm coming." He answered the brown haired male. He took one last look at Asta before he turned and walked out of the area he was in. Yuno, who witnessed everything that had just happened, had his mouth hanging slightly open, unable to believe that his childhood friend is a lot different than he was when he last saw him. Even though this is true, he still noticed that Asta is still the same in some ways, which gave Yuno some hope that he might be able to figure out what's going on with Asta. After a while a man announced that the entrance exams were about to start. Everyone was ready to show off what they can do and to prove they are worthy enough to join the magic knights.

The first part of the exam was to see if you could fly on a broom. Everyone was trying their hardest to fly on the brooms and some were doing pretty well. Yuno was flying the highest out of everyone, casually balancing on the broom as it swiftly glides through the air. The thing is, the broom runs on magic, so you can guess who was struggling to make his broom move at all. Asta tried to make it fly but it wouldn't budge. A golden haired male noticed that Asta was struggling so he called out to him saying, "Don't give up, you can do it! Ha ha!" Asta tried to ignore him, and gave up on trying to make the broom fly. He knew he didn't have any magic so what was the point in trying? All of the other tests required magic as well and although Yuno was do exceptionally well, Asta wasn't at all. Everyone that saw him struggling was laughing and questioning the reason he was here in the first place. All of the magic knight captains didn't pay attention to him, all except one. Yami was paying full attention to this short male because he peaked his interest. At last it was time for the battle portion of the test. Everyone needed to find a partner so they could duel each other. Asta was looking around for someone when a familiar voice called out, "Hey Asta, let's duel! Ha ha!" It was the same golden haired male who cheered him on in the first part of the test and continued to cheer him on in all of the others. He introduced himself as Sekke Bronzazza. Asta agreed to fight him and once it was their turn, they stepped into the middle of the ring. "Let's do our best, ok?" Asta exclaimed. Sekke put his hand on Asta's shoulder and leaned it towards his face. "You can stop trying so hard, you filthy rat. Thanks for making me look so much better than I already am. I'm going to make into the magic knights for the both of us. You got that, commoner?" He whispered as he walked toward his side of the arena. Asta devilishly smirked to himself as he made his way to his side of the arena.

Asta POV

I finally made it to my side as I prepared for battle. I was gonna wipe the floor with this guy. I just wanted to wipe that smile off of his smug face and show him what true fear feels like. "You should kill him." A dark voice in my head told me. "Later, but not now." I replied. The match suddenly began and I saw that Sekke had put up a force field. I quietly laughed to myself. Did he really think that that was going to protect him? I ran up to him as I pulled my sword from my Grimoire. I then hit my sword against his force field, shattering it to pieces. Also knocking him out in the process. I just casually walked away from him as everyone stared in awe.

It was time for the magic knights to pick who would be apart of their team. Everyone either got picked by one or more teams, or no one picked them and they had to leave. Soon it was Yuno's turn. All of the magic knight captains raised their had for him and everyone was speechless. I assumed that it was almost impossible to get picked by all of the magic knights. Of course he picked the best squad to be apart of, The Golden Dawn. "Figures." I told myself as I waited for my turn. When I was finally called on, I walked into the middle of the ring with my head down. I just needed at least one person to pick me for the plan to work. I waited for what seemed like hours until one person spoke up. "Hey kid, why are you here?" It was Yami. He jumped in front of me and asked again. "I want to become the Wizard King!" I lied. I didn't want anything to do with these people, but I needed this plan to follow through. "Are you even ready to take on that challenge? There are people more powerful than you. Are you ready to work yourself non stop to beat those people to become the Wizard King?" "Yes, I will become the Wizard King!" I yelled at him. He then started to laugh. "I like you kid! Come join my squad." He exclaimed to me. "Part one of the plan is complete." I thought to myself as I smiled up at Yami.

After all of that was said and done, Asta had to use the bathroom. As he was going to go do so however, he noticed that a certain someone was following him. He decided he was going to use the bathroom later as he walked away from the crowd of people. He soon stoped when he noticed that no one else was around and asked, "Why are you following me?" Sekke angrily answered, "Because your the reason I ended up in a group I didn't want to be in, the Green Mantis squad. That's a bug! I don't want to be in the squad that's named after a bug!" Asta turned to face him. He was getting a little annoyed with this guy. He walked up to him and picked him up by his collar. "Maybe instead of blaming your problems on others, you start facing them yourself! You're complaining because you didn't get into the squad you wanted! How childish! At least you got in at all, although you don't deserve it!" Asta dropped Sekke onto the ground and glared at him. "Focus your time and energy on getting better and not being selfish. Also if you try me again, I'll kill you." He finished as he walked away.
