"This really does suck a lot" Dick sighed as he slouched deeper into the couch. "It's been raining for three days straight"
"Well, it is Gotham, you big baby" Y/N said with a light laugh as she sat next to him, taking his head and positioning it atop her thighs, to act as a makeshift pillow for the boy. "We're lucky it's just rain and not a full on lightning storm." She ran her fingers through his soft hair as he turned to look up at her through long, dark lashes that framed his vibrant blue eyes. Probably the most colorful thing in the room.
"I know. I just wish it would stop so I could take you out on a really nice date. It's your birthday today and I couldn't even run out to get you a gift"
"It doesn't matter, Dick. You know I don't care about those things. At least you're here with me and not somewhere else" She offered him a geniune smile.
"You are an angel, you know that? An angel sent to me by God himself" Dick said as poetically as he could, which was very poetic, in all honestly. It made the girl swoon every time.
Dick sighed as he closed his eyes and let himself be relaxed by the sensation of Y/N's gentle fingers working their way through his hair, pulling softly at the curls that formed at the nape of his neck. He began to hum without noticing, the melody of her favorite song (though he was oblivious to this fact) ever so quietly leaving his lips as he began to sing involuntarily.
"Both your hands in the holes of my sweater" She finished the lyric as he looked at her, a startled blush creeping on his cheeks. The second most colorful thing in the room.
"You know the Neighbourhood?" He said somewhat shyly
"Yeah. You just sang my favorite song. It was nice, you have a beautiful voice. Keep going, love"
He nodded as he sat up straight and hugged her close to him, her hair falling down her shoulders as her face pressed gently against his chest. His angelic voice filling the room as the chaotic patter of raindrops on the window subsided into a peaceful shower.
this was cute, i really liked it. i hope you liked it as well. sorry for not updating in such a long time, i've just been under so much stress and pressure. hopefully when i get back home i'll write way more for you guys. i hope you all have an amazing day/night.
