Chapter 4

Avery's pov:
I woke up to sunlight burning my fragile vampire skin. I sit up looking down at the bruises on my body. Yeah you wonder how i got those? Well my mom isn't a very good mom, she beats me most of the times and screams at me for being the reason my dad is gone. My dad died 4 years ago in a car crash towards my dance recital. My mom never stopped blaming me for it and over the years the abuse got worse and worse. I sighed and got up cracking my back. I looked in the mirror seeing all the damage she has done this time i groaned and went to go take a quick shower, thank god that i have one attached to my room.

When i was freshly washed i put on my foundation to cover the hand bruise on my neck and got ready for the day. I went downstairs to get a quick snack in before school in hope my mom isn't down there. I was eating my banana scrolling threw instagram when i felt a hand on my shoulder "good morning sweetie slept well?" My mom said. I looked down and nodded getting a hair pulling in return "verbal answer" i choked out a yes mom and she let me go. I grabbed my bag and went out the door ready to statt my journey to school.

When i opened my front door i was greeted by Ryder leaning against his car looking at the ground. I walked up to him "hi" i said quietly. he shot up "Avery, I'm so sorry i should have never pushed you to talk about it please forgive me" he rambled on. I giggled giving him a soft but well needed hug. "I'm sorry too" he hugged me back.

I broke our hug "let's go to school my carriage rider" i said strolling up to his car. He laughed and we rode to school. At school we parted our way quickly cause we were running on the late side again. I sat myself down in class tuning out the teacher and thinking to myself. I really like Ryder, like really like him. I just hope I don't mess it up like i have with the last 4 friends.

"You won't mess up"

I shook again but this time i was quiet. I went back to my thought trying to i dont know communicatie with the voice. Who are you? I ask not expecting a responds back.
"A friend" the voice said.

Well i be damed. Why are you suddenly iny thoughts? I ask.

"You will find out soon enough my dearest" it said and i frowned. I got a bit scared of it to be honest.

"Dont be scared love, i wont hurt you i will protect you from any harm done, that's a promise" it spoke again.

This time I wasn't scared tho i was kind of relieved somehow, the voice was nice and meant no harm so why not have a bit of fun with it and speak to it. Why are you speaking to me? I ask it.

"You will see love, be patient" thats all it said.

After that it didn't responds anymore and i got bored again. Looking out of the classroom window thinking about Ryder again. This boy already got me hooked on his finger and he doesn't even know.
