the next day

I scheduled an appointment soon after I took the test to confirm my pregnancy, see how far along I am, what my next steps are, etc. It's 8:30 am now and I'm staring in the mirror at myself before I heard y/bff/n call out to me.

"Y/N WE'RE GONNA BE LATE C'MON." 

I sighed, grabbed my bag and walked downstairs. Y/bff/n gave me a small smile before we walked out to the car. Thankfully she had today off because lord knows I couldn't have done this by myself.

...

I was laying on the examination chair thing when the doctor finally came in.

"Good morning Miss.Y/L/N, how we feeling today?" She asked cheerfully.

I faked a smile. "I'm doing okay just a little nervous about all this."

I had already taken a pregnancy test with the nurse earlier in the appointment which confirmed the pregnancy. I was doing the next step which was the ultrasound to make sure everything looked okay and to see how far along I was.

"It's okay, everyone usually is a little nervous during the first ultrasound. Just try to relax a little. The gel is going to be a little cold." she warned me with a warm smile to try to keep me calm. She put the gel on the bottom of my stomach and started to trace the wand from the ultrasound machine around until a little bean popped up on the screen. "there's your baby." she said pointing at the monitor with her free hand. she squinted at the screen "It looks to me like you're just shy of three weeks."

y/bff/n who was holding my hand squeezed it gently. "I'm going to turn the sound on so I can hear the heartbeat and make sure everything is okay. You ready?" the doctor said looking over at me, and I nodded giving her the okay.

Then I heard it. The heartbeat. I started crying. I can't believe there's a whole person starting to grow inside me.

Before I knew it the doctor finished up and cleaned off my stomach. "Everything looks perfect for this point of the pregnancy, do you want me to print off some pictures?" She asked as she was taking her gloves off. 

I nodded, still feeling speechless. 

The doctor printed off some of the ultrasound pictures and we left.

We got in the car and sat there quietly for a second. Y/bff/n finally broke the silence. "So when are you gonna tell him?" she asked

"Today," I said before a deep sigh escaped my mouth "do you mind taking me to the prettymuch house?" I asked her. She knows where it is since she's been there a few times with Ansley. She nodded her head, turning the engine on and backing out of the parking space.

...

We parked upfront. I texted Nick that I was coming over because I needed to talk to him but he didn't respond. Either he was sleeping or ignoring me. But I didn't really care which one it was.

Y/bff/n stayed in the car as I walked up to the door. I rang the doorbell and put my hands in my pockets nervously. 30 seconds had passed and I instantly thought this was a bad idea, I was about to turn around when the door swung open, revealing a very sleepy Hispanic boy. "Hi, listen I get that you guys get excited but please don't come to our house, please respect our pri-"

"I'm y/n. I just need to talk to Nick real quick, its an emergency." I said cutting him off before he had the chance to shut the door in my face. His eyes went wide. "Oh, I am so sorry. hi I'm Edwin," he said awkwardly, stepping aside so I could come in.

"Is Nick home?" I asked as I walked in since he didn't really respond to the whole 'this is an emergency' part.

"Oh yeah. Sorry. I think he's still sleeping lemme go get him." he said. I nodded my head and sat on the couch as he ran off.

A few minutes later Nick walked into the living room. I stood up, all of a sudden forgetting what I was supposed to say.

"Hey y/n." He said in a sleepy voice before yawning. He walked over and plopped down on the couch, so I sat back down on the opposite side of him.

"Hi Nicholas," I said looking down at my hands. fuck, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

"Can you not say my government name?" he said playfully rolling his eyes and chuckling. "So, what's this emergency Edwin woke me up for?"

"I'm pregnant." I blurted out. Why the fuck did I just hit him with this bomb without easing into it? WHY AM I LIKE THIS? His eyes went wide and he sat up. That definitely woke him up.

"what?" he said in a low voice.

I pulled the ultrasound pictures out of my jacket pocket and handed them to him. He reluctantly took them from me and stared at them. Not saying a word. It was silent for what felt like 10,000 hours.

"say something," I said. My voice feeling shaky. 

he looked up at me. "Are you sure it's even mine? I mean you did let me smash the first night," he asked in a cold voice.

I was in shock. "Are you fucking serious Nicholas?" I said. Angry tears started to fall down my cheeks. I was so pissed. Pissed that he had the audacity to say that to my face. Pissed that I'm crying right now in front of him. Pissed that I'm pregnant. WITH THIS FOOLS KID.

I quickly came to my senses and snatched the ultrasound pictures out of his hands. 

"Look, I'm sorry I-" he began to say before I cut him off.

"The last time I had sex before you was almost a year ago. So unless I'm giving birth to the second coming of Jesus, it's fucking yours." I stood up and made my way to the door.

Nick quickly stood up and sprinted over to me blocking the door so I wouldn't leave. 

"move," I said coldly.

"no. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I believe you... I'm just... I'm in shock too okay." He said desperately trying to explain himself. 

I crossed my arms. "I don't care Mara. Move. I'm done with this conversation right now."

He sighed. "We have to talk about this."

"And we will, but quite frankly, I don't even want to look at you right now."

He looked sad, regretful, and really stressed. He stepped aside without saying a word and I walked passed him opening the door and slamming it behind me. 

Thank God y/bff/n was still waiting outside in the car for me.

Nick's pov

Y/N walked out and I just stood there staring at the door. I turned around to see the boys giving me shocked stares.

"bruuuuhhhhhhh" Zion said, breaking the silence.
