Part II
"What are you talking about?" Ben asked.
"I want to find out who did this to me." Jennifer repeated. "To us."
"Why?"
"They took away my memories. They separated us. One of them, Sara, she put a quarantine on the planet to find me. Jake broke in to take me from you. To do more tests on me, ones that could possibly kill me. And I will get revenge."
Before Ben could respond, she stood up from the bed and walked into the living room.
There, she turned on the holo-computer. It scanned her as the search engine immediately showed what she was looking for.
Results for Thunderstorm: the computer read, showing a list of articles about the meaning and synonyms of the word, then finally, one article from 2 years prior:
18 year old Emily Clarke starts company: Thunderstorm, government threatens to shut down
Jennifer opened the article.
Emily Clarke, 18, claims she can bring others back to life, specifically ones that have died over a million years ago, using both her own and her parents' research. Her brother, Jacob Clarke is to be head of security and advisor to her.
However, government officials have sued the Clarke family in the past, and is rumored to be the cause of the parents' death.
This, however, is just conjecture, and neither party has commented on the matter.
The article continued to detail Thunderstorm, including multiple pictures of Emily and Jake. Jennifer stood up from the chair and turned to see Ben standing in the doorway.
"What?" she asked when she noticed that he looked concerned.
"Nothing." he said after a pause. "Are you sure you're okay? I know you hate it when I ask you-"
Jennifer rolled her eyes. "I'm fine."
"What are you doing?"
Jennifer looked at the computer, and quickly cleared the search history when Ben walked towards her. He looked at her suspiciously.
"I'm fine, Ben." She kissed him, but it didn't take away from his apprehensiveness of her behavior.
"Listen, about this whole 'revenge' thing.... just stay here. Please. I just got you back, I can't let you-"
"Ben, you've known me long enough to know that I'll do whatever I want regardless of what you say," Jennifer said, interrupting him. "I'm sorry if this bothers you, but I'm doing this for us. For what they did to us."
"But you don't have to." Ben protested. "Just stay here." he repeated.
"Don't you feel the same way? I thought you were angry at them for taking my memories. You said-"
"I know what I said, Jennifer. I also said that I didn't want you to go back there."
"Fine, I won't." As Ben relaxed, walking over to the couch, Jennifer murmured: "Not yet."
