Snow's P.O.V.

My head rested on Jerome's chest. He played with my hair idly.

That was another thing that was different between Jerome and Jason.

Jason and I never had a chance to actually...spend time with each other this way.

It was cold outside but the fire provided enough heat to keep me warm.

"Hey Snow?" his voice was quiet so he wouldn't wake up Thalia and Mitch.

"Yeah?"

"You tired?"

I looked up at him. "Not a chance, you took watch yesterday. It's my turn."

He grinned at me and leaned down to kiss me.

We sat in silence for a few moments.

"Snow?"

"Yeah Jerome?"

"I'm in love with you."

I glanced up at him. "You're...kidding right?"

He laughed and shook his head. "No, I'm in love with you. I'm not kidding."

I pursed my lips. "That's highly improbable."

Jerome smirked. "Aren't you a genius?"

I rolled my eyes.

"I love you Snow. I really do." Jerome said after a few moments of silence.

"Love doesn't work that way."

"How would you know how love works?"

"How would you?"

Jerome chuckled. "This is why I love you. You're defiance, your sarcasm. You're a blazing ball of fire Snow. But I'm not afraid of being burned."

I am.

"It's late Jerome. You're tired, go to sleep. It's affecting your ability to think."

Jerome smiled at me. "Whatever you say Snow. But just know, I'll be just as much in love with you tomorrow morning as I am now."

And with that, he shut his eyes.

A while later I could tell he was asleep.

He couldn't be in love with me.

The probability of that was next to impossible.

Maybe I was only thinking of it in a statistical way.

Maybe Jerome did love me.

"Yeah right." I muttered out loud. Ever since Jason, I had already been on edge about this whole love thing.

But there was something else.

The Gamemakers hadn't done anything in a while. There hadn't been any deaths for a few days.

There was something else that was keeping Panem interested.

I was afraid of what it was.

"Hungry?"

I sighed and nodded.

Thalia handed me a leg of some kind of bird. (Adult, most likely male, groosling?)

"Thanks."

"Food supply is running low." Thalia murmured. She didn't look me in the eye, she seemed really tired. "You wanna go hunting?"

"Sure we can go after breakfast."

Thalia shifted awkwardly.

"What?" I asked looking up at her.
