The Beginning

When it all began there were only two Gods, Luna and Sol. The Goddess Luna was the moon and her beloved Sol the sun.  Their first child was a son, Thadeus. He used the lessons of his parents to create the land, along with the stone and metal buried deep within it.  Next came the twins, Mila and Mira.  Mira decided that her brother's creation was much too bland and desolate, and so created all things green and growing.  Mila saw only dirt and dust and so made all the oceans, lakes, rivers and streams. Last but not least, came Toren, he liked the mountains and hills but found it dry and hot. In an effort to cool himself he created the winds and breezes. The sun and moon would chase each about the world their children had made trying to see the wonder they had made.  Some times they would catch one another, one eclipsing the other, sending the world into darkness but with a laugh, they would resume their game and the world was bright and beautiful once more.

The children loved to play in the world they had created. As they grew the world began to flourish as their powers grew.  It was Toren though, that soon thought about his creation.  It wasn't like the others.  You couldn't see it, you could only feel it, sometimes it could be smelled, but it wasn't visible like the others.  At first, he wasn't sure how to fix it, then as he slept one evening his mother called to him.  He went into the night to seek her counsel.  "What troubles you this night my son?" she asked smiling in just that way only a mother could.  "Well how do I make my creation as wonderful as the other's?" he asked   "Whatever do you mean? Your creation is just as wonderful as the other's. ."  Luna knew that with time and patience Toren would come to the answer on his own, so she simply listened and waited.  He quickly explained his misgivings about his creation.  He wanted to be able to see it not just hear it or feel it but to truly see it. He asked her if she knew how he could make it come to be.  He continued to talk and ponder out loud when suddenly a thought came to him.  "Mother, what if I created something that lived in the air!" he shouted triumphantly.  Luna smiled at him knowingly.  "Thank you, Mother, you always have just the right answer!" Luna hugged her child and sent him back to sleep.  Knowing he had the answer he slept, deeply that night.

It would take some time, Toren knew this, and so he experimented. First came moths, and then bats. He found them interesting but not beautiful.  So he continued on, he looked at the moths he had created and thought maybe if I add some color.  He thought of the beautiful flowers Mira had created.  He refined the body and wings, then with a splash of beautiful colors and designs, he created the first butterflies.  He quickly ran to show Mira for it was her that inspired him.  Mira was awestruck at Toren's creation, and together they quickly conspired to make more wonderous creatures to fill the air.  Bees and birds of all colors and sizes. Soon they could see the air just as Toren had wished.

Mira quickly, considered her brother, asking him to teach her to create as he did.  As it did Toren, it took Mira some time to get it just right, all to soon the land was filled with creatures big and small.  Wonderous creatures to watch and entertain.  Soon the other's began to learn as well. Thadeus, he made bugs and creatures to fill the soil beneath their feet he laughed, watching them scurry and borrow through the ground. Mila not wishing to be outdone filled the oceans and streams with life and color.  Soon they realized, that their creations were learning to feed and use the gifts of the other's to live and flourish.  Soon, however, there became a problem. The creatures they had created, became too plentiful and filled the whole of the earth. Something had to be done, and so they approached their father, for he knew of these things.

At their call, Sol came to them quickly. "You need to learn balance," he told them with a glare.  "It's one thing to create, but you must learn to balance them.  Some of your creatures feed on others to live and survive. Those, however, have become too powerful and now rule your lands. Now you need to create something that is strong enough and smart enough to compete against them.  Something that can restore the balance. Teach them to live as we live and soon you shall restore the balance." he explained and then he left them to ponder his words.  The Gods sat wondering on their father's words.  It was Mila who spoke first. "He did say that we should teach them to live as we do. What if he meant that they should look like us?" she wondered out loud.  In frustration they each retreated to their favorite parts of the lands they had created.  Thadeus his mountains, Mira her forests, Mila the islands in her oceans, and Toren the open plains.  It was Thadeus who came to the answer first.  He created a small version of himself. Short and firm, they were built to withstand the conditions deep within his mountains.  What fun was all the shiny gems and metals buried beneath the earth if no one could see them? So as a mason and blacksmith, he taught his people to do what he did.  They dug in the earth and brought out his metals and he taught them the ways he used them to make tools and weapons.
Seeing the people that Thadeus had made,  Mila wanted someone to help defend the small and beautiful creatures of the sea. She, of course, made the merpeople. She gave them a wonderful world beneath the waves that they named Atlanta. Thadeus taught them to use the materials he had made beneath the water to create tools and weapons to protect their homes. Soon they ruled the waves, and balance and peace were restored once more.  Toren wanted his peoples to be as beautiful as the birds in the sky and butterfly's that floated on the air. He first created a small race he called the pixies.  Wings like spun glass and tiny bodies, they were a fun-loving race. They loved to flutter about and play all day. Once more Thadeus stepped in to help and soon they restored the balance of all the small creatures that roamed.  Using the gifts provided by Mira for weapons and tools. Small twigs and stones, caps of acorns and such. They soon had a flourishing city built within the largest of trees.  Soon the Pixies had chosen many trees, and they balanced the smallest of creatures.
Toren though wasn't at all sure his creatures were quite big enough to make a true difference, and so created the Fairies.  The Fairies, full of magic and wonder were tasked with helping Mira to protect and preserve the green and growing things of the world.  He said that they were his gift to her, to thank her for all her help making the beautiful creatures that flew on his winds.  In return, Mira looked at the delicate childlike people and thought they should float on the winds as all of Toren's creatures did.  She looked at the butterflies and their beautiful wings and thought they would be just right.  She gifted them with wings to rival even the most gorgeous of butterflies.  Soon, they made peace with the Pixies, learning the gifts taught them by Thadeus.  They loved to live near the water's edge and soon they restored balance to the moister areas of the land.
Toren was not sure that the beings they had created were enough to conquer the beast of tooth and claw.  He decided to create a larger race one that could challenge them and restore balance.  Thadeus was greatly surprised as he wandered his mountains one day.  As he rounded the peak he found himself nose to nose with a very large lizard-like creature.  Scales of colors the mind could scarcely imagine glittering in the sun. Great wings could carry them high into the air.  Obviously, the great creature gave Thadeus some pause.  Toren came running, "Don't worry brother they won't hurt you!" he cried in excitement.  Thadeus looked at his brother in astonishment. "What in the great wide world is that!?" Thadeus exclaimed.  Toren a wide smile upon his face laughed. "I think I will call them Dragons. They will keep watch over our lands and protect our races from those of tooth and claw," he replied with pride.  Thadeus called to his sisters who arrived with great haste at the summons.  Mira, of course, thought them beautiful, Mila wasn't so sure.  "You say that they are to protect our creations but who will control them? You have made them very smart but as father said balance must be maintained!"  she cried.  Thadeus thought on this a moment, he looked to the Dwarves he had created.  If they were only taller and more agile they could take on this task.  He soon decided to act on his thoughts and before their very eyes, he created Man.  They would be allies with the Dragons and protect the races.  Mira felt that only one race wouldn't be enough to balance such magnificent creatures.  She soon created the race of Elves.  They too were allies of the Dragons and learned to create saddles in which to take to the skies upon their great wings.
Happy with the world they created, The four Gods took to the heavens to be with their parents, leaving their races to live as they would. They created the realm they referred to as the Trinity an afterlife if you will.  Those who followed the ways of their teachings would be granted eternal peace thereafter their life in the world ended, as all things must.  Soon though the hearts of man, found greed and a lust for power over their fellow races. Seeking to control the others, evil was borne into the world.
It was decided by the four that an afterlife for that dark of heart and deed would not be granted peace upon their death.  And so Thadeus created a world of fire and pain which was simply called the underworld.  To maintain the order of the underworld he created the demi-God Samael.  He embodied all the evils and darkness man had wrought into the world.  He like the world he ruled was eternal, but he was bound to the Underworld unable to leave. He possessed the powers of the Gods and so created demons from the souls sent to him to help in his task.  The demons he made, however, were not bound to the underworld and able to enter the world of man.  They spread the corruption of man until the balance was quickly becoming undone.
The Gods themselves could no longer visit the world they had created, having bound themselves to Trinity. The only way to influence their races was through their prayers.  The races had built monuments and great temples in which they could worship the Gods.  Some had gone so far as to forsake their lives in order to spread the teachings of their Gods they had become Priests and Priestesses.  Maintaining the teachings as well as the temples that the people revered.  The Gods had granted them the gift of magick much the same as the Fairies.  They were taught to use the essences of creation left by the Gods to protect against the evils of men.
It was discovered that some born into the world could sense these powers and use them without the aid of the Gods.  The priests soon began to seek out these rare men and women in order to teach them in the craft.   A massive temple was built on the land that was upon the same isles that Mila had once called home.
The priests called it Elysmyr, and many flocked to the smaller islands nearby providing aid and supplies to the Great Temple.  Some would come simply to learn the gentle ways of Mira's bounties, learning how to use plants and other ingredients to heal their fellow man. An alchemist would learn how to use many different things in order to protect and benefit the bounties Mira provided.  Fertilizers for crops or explosives used to aid the Dwarves in the mining of Thadeus' minerals and ores.
Other's, however, could manipulate the very elements created by the Gods.  Earth, air, fire, and water these were the cornerstones of true magick.  They were taught how to not only protect but to destroy if necessary.  They continued to pray and pay homage to the Gods and used their teachings well. These witches and wizards, soon went into the world using their gifts to thwart the corruption spread by the demons of the underworld, and even Samael himself.  Then came the seer, she who could look into the future and see the different strands of fate.  She made prophecies of the things she saw that would come into being and some were dark and dangerous.  The fight with Samael and the darkness he wrought, would end in a great and terrible war. She saw only one outcome that would save the world. A girl would be born into the world blessed by the Gods themselves, to defeat this evil and bring peace back to the lands once more.  She would be known by the mark given to her by the Gods, the symbol of Trinity would be found upon her skin.  All would know her as the God Queen, but only some would know her simply as... Amara.
