Oren paced nervously before the hearth, Gideon passing him a new mug of whiskey. Oren didn't usually drink anything that strong but tonight he would drink the whole barrel if he could. His heart in his throat as Maggie cried out once more. He didn't know how much more he could endure, he couldn't think of the pain she was suffering through. Oren sat down again, feeling his knees buckle, he feared he may pass out from the strain.
When the evening began the couple had known that her time was drawing near when the eclipse began Magda began to feel the first pains of labor. Now as the night drew nearer to dawn she was struggling to bring her daughter into the world. A cool breeze slipped through the room, Maggie welcomed the coolness. With one last surge of strength, she pushed her daughter into the world. With a loud cry, Amara the future God Queen was born.
Hearing his daughter's cry, Oren could no longer stay below stairs, he rushed for the stairs. Gideon quickly intercepted him, "Hold on there, give them a few minutes to clean up Maggie and the babe before you go bursting in there," Oren stopped a look of aggravation on his face, he agreed and returned to his chair, draining his mug of whiskey. Moments later Amelia stood on the landing holding his daughter. Oren rose tears in his eyes as he met her at the bottom of the stairs seeing his daughter for the first time. Most startling was her eyes the color of polished cobalt stared at her father with interest. She raised her tiny fist toward him when he offered her his little finger clasping it tightly. That's when he noticed the small Trinity symbol on the underside of her forearm, he smiled knowing that his little God Queen had been born to save the world of mankind... he hoped.
"My great lord, I have thought long and hard about this prophecy," Simeon started slowly, gauging his words carefully. He knew this was the answer Samael needed but how to propose it was another thing entirely. Samael turned to look at the sniveling man before him. After his son ran off to Elesmyr, the man had been groveling trying to return to his good graces. He waved his hand motioning him to continue, he had already begun to bore at the man's words. "You see my lord, the Gods of Trinity have birthed and blessed a child to work on their behalf. As a demigod, however, the child you bring into the world would share your blood. The child would be your living embodiment in the world," he finished hoping Samael wouldn't think he was trying to undermine him.
Samael mulled the man's words over in his mind. This could work, he thought a cruel sneer crossing his face. Living souls could travel between his world and there's to serve him at will. Now all he needed was a woman willing to bear his child. He looked at Simeon a plan quickly coming together. "Simeon, you may not be useless after all. You will go and find me a woman willing to serve as the child's mother. Bring her here to me, oh and Simeon, don't fail me again!" Simeon bowed deeply to Samael, as he turned to leave. Once through the large doors leading to the antechamber, he straightened his anger clear upon his face.
"How dare he threaten me?" he thought as he walked. He already had his own plans in place. Niko was a girl he knew well and had already agreed to take part in his plan. Niko had grown up in Elesmyr. Her mother, Sarah a dark healer who had served Samael faithfully for many years. Many had believed that Niko died when she was just a young girl. The truth was she had run away from her hateful mother, Simeon finding her cold and alone by the side of the road. He had trained her in the dark magics he practiced and showed her the benefits of life following the dark lord.
Now was the time to give the girl over to Samael. He had known long ago that if his son managed to foul up the plans of Samael, he would need protection. Niko had been groomed for years for this very day. Simeon smiled knowing soon he would be welcomed back to Samael's inner circle. Power would be his once more, sacrificing the girl would be nothing compared to the rewards he would gain. He returned to his home quickly wanting to set things in motion as quickly as possible.
Niko heard Simeon's return a sly smile on her face, she adjusted the bosom of the gown she wore. She knew the time had come for her to be given to Samael. She was to be the wife and mother to the most powerful of kings. She had gone to great lengths to ensure her appearance would please him. It was simply amazing what magic could do if you found the right witch. Her breasts had been enlarged, making them large and firm. Her waist and hips had been slimmed, and her hair was her favorite improvement. Her chestnut brown locks fell in a shiny cascade of curls to her waist. Tomorrow she would see the seamstress for her new gowns which would ensure she was a woman that Samael would be proud to have at his side.
Simeon entered her chambers without knocking, "How did it go with the hag?" he asked before looking at her. He stopped in his tracks at the vision before him. She was truly exquisite, like a statue created by a master artisan. "Well, it seems my money was a truly worthwhile investment," he told her as he walked about her inspecting her closely. Not a single blemish marred her delicate skin. She was absolutely perfect in every way. "He is going to absolutely adore you," he said with a leer knowing his life would, at last, be returned to him.
Two days had passed since his audience with Samael. He entered the antechamber with Niko on his arm, all eyes watched her closely. She was amazing. She wore a black satin gown that hugged each curve enticingly. The neckline plunged into a deep vee stopping below her navel. Her back much the same stopping just below the dimples in her lower back just above the curve of her buttocks. Her hair had been pinned up into a sexy twist allowing tendrils to cup her face lovingly. The sultry look in her eye had every man and some women drooling as she walked by. They were announced to Samael and he bid them enter. As the doors closed behind them the cacophony of voices could be heard growing loud all with questions of the lady.
Samael couldn't believe his eyes at the dark beauty before him. She curtsied deeply before him her eyes never leaving his. For the first time in the eons he had existed he found a woman who stirred his passions. He rose from his throne approaching her, "Is this the woman you have found to be my bride?" he asked Simeon with some amazement in his voice. "Yes, my great king this is Niko. She comes before you most willingly I assure you," Simeon replied proudly. "It would be my greatest pleasure to stand at your side, my king," she said in a soft, sultry voice. "If you would have me that is," she added quickly. Samael took her hand turning her about, "I do believe that the pleasure would be mutual my dear. Come let us talk in private, get to know one another," he said leading her away.
Simeon knew that he had done well and that Samael's reward would be great indeed.
Less than a week passed before the two were wed in a lavish ceremony. The reception to follow was just as grand however at the center of the room stood something strange. A sacrifice alter. Simeon couldn't help the shiver that rushed down his spine at the thought. Everyone was seated and the meal began laughter and merriment prevailed around the room. Suddenly, Samael raised his hand calling for silence. He stood smiling down at his new bride, "My beloved has asked for something rather special and unique from me as a wedding gift," he proclaimed looking about the large room with an evil smile. "She has asked for a sacrifice to show my undying devotion to her! A very specific sacrifice to show that my loyalty is to her alone," he said his eyes landing on Simeon, his smile broadening. Suddenly, two guards grabbing him drug him to the center of the room. "What is the meaning of this? I demand you release me at once!" he demanded. Samael laughed evilly, "That won't be happening Simeon for you see you are the sacrifice my beloved demanded!" Simeon's gaze flew to meet Niko's. The darkness in her eyes told him all he needed to know. She had betrayed him.
"You deceitful Bitch," he cried "You would not be here if not for me! I found you and prepared you for this life! I should have left to die next to that road so long ago!" he screamed frantically, as his head was forced onto the block at the center of the table. His hands were quickly secured into iron cuffs on the tables large wooden legs. He swallowed heavily. His soul damned to become a demon at his masters bidding when he died. With a single sharp pain, his life ended and his true torture began.
As the sun and moon embraced that fateful night they watched over not one but two births. Children born of the Gods who would fight the war to come. A war that would either see one of them fall or the world would become damned for eternity. Only time would tell..
