The Judge

Run. Get out of there! I shake, knowing I can do absolutely nothing, but watch. I see the knife they cold, their eyes without mercy or an open mind. Humans are dangerous. And now, all I can do is stand in the background while I see my brother be the barrier between this human and the entire Underground.

I struggle against the vines. Wind picking up on top of the small hill where I stand, hidden. The tall drake trees are parallel to the bars in a prison cell. Towering and surrounding me in all directions. Keeping me out of sight. I try to gain a good solid breath, but all I can do is take in sips of air as the vines adjust around my rib cage.

I heard Undyne's orders for them to surrender, and I had to watch them disobey. Being able to read my brother like an open book, didn't help me cope with the situation at all. I could see him want to hope in the human. Try to help him like how he wants to help everyone. But he didn't see the dust as soon as I did.

Maybe it was the last few weeks as a puppet, but my sense of paranoia has grown. It has grown well beyond ever giving a human mercy at first glance. I see how he feels the chill of the wind, and how I wish I could take him out of this situation. But instead I am anchored to the snowy ground while I watch the human cross the bridge.

I can almost hear Papyrus's words in the wind.

But all I can focus on is the human's laugh. How it physically hurts my aching head. I clench my jaw, the vines adjusting to the new position. My fists shake against the greenery. And I try to look down, I try to step out of this situation, at least so I can figure out what I can do. But Flowey makes me watch.

Their laugh continues on and on through the forest, warning monsters of their oncoming slaughter. My mind focused on their dusty clothes and Undyne's shouting. She orders an attack. I brace myself as I see her launch Spears from all directions.

Papyrus hesitates. He stands behind Undyne. I see his mouth move, hands up, not attacking. He must be trying to convince them to stop. That they didn't have to fight. But after a few moments of the human dodging spears, they make an attack. And I think that's when I saw the hope leave Papyrus's face.

And when the human's attack is able to knock some of Undyne's HP down, he sends his first round of attacks. But he still continues to shout through the violence. "See how it always comes down to this?" Flowey speaks into my skull. "How it's either kill or be killed?" He laughs into my head.

My balled up fist twitches. Trying to knock him silent. I continue to be forced to watch the exchange of attacks. I continue to be tethered down to this spot. And for what seems like hours of ruthless rounds of attacks by the human, they finally land another hit.

Eyes glazed over, I watch the strike. Nothing lethal, but deadly all the same. I catch my breath, before I could force it out of my system with a raging scream I am forced to bottle up inside. Anger and sadness build up like a wave that never seems to crash.

The only release of emotion, the only reaction I can make, are the silent tears that leak out of my eye. The cascading tears of one eye reach the vines that wrap around my voice, restricting my throat. And the rest of the tears are blocked by the demon himself.

For they land their first hit.
