open boxes were scattered around the living room, indicating that the new family was in the process of moving in.

while her parents were bringing in boxes full of things for their office, hyerim was carrying her own up to her bedroom. she was sat on the floor, sorting through her things as a couple of knocks on her opened door sounded.

when she turned her head from one of the boxes to the entrance of her room, she saw her mom, jiyeon, standing there.

"can i come in?" she asked with a small smile.

hyerim nodded and watched as she strode in, setting herself down on the empty bed.

"just worry about unpacking and settling in for now, okay?" jiyeon continued. "dad will take you to the school tomorrow and supply shopping to get what you need."

"alright," hyerim replied. "where's jae?"

"he's knocked out on the couch," her mom chuckled in response.

she rubbed hyerim's shoulder in a comforting way before leaving, and once again, the teenager was left alone.

she glanced out the window as the moon shone alongside the gleaming stars.

i miss jeju already.. a sigh escaped her lips.

the next day, hyerim and her dad waited until noon to drive down to the high school she'd be attending for the last three quarters of senior year.

"exciting, isn't it?" joohyuk spoke, putting the car in park once they found a vacant spot.

more like nerve-wracking, hyerim thought.

"very," she mumbled. "aren't there classes still going on?"

"yeah, but i figured we could do everything before the day ends and the shopping center becomes crowded with students."

hyerim lightly chuckled, giving joohyuk a fist bump. "good thinking."

the two got out of the car and started walking side by side into the building. since neither of them knew their way around, they decided on asking someone for assistance if they were to happen to pass by.

hyerim's eyes roamed around the hallway before landing on two boys.

"oh, i'll go ask them really quick," she told her dad before rushing up to them. "excuse me!"

both of them turned to look at her and the one with dark red hair gave her a polite smile.

"hyung, she's really pretty," the other whispered, earning a jab in his side by the brown-haired boy's elbow

"hyung, she's really pretty," the other whispered, earning a jab in his side by the brown-haired boy's elbow.

"hi!" the first one said.

"hi, um, can you give me and my dad directions to the main office?" hyerim nodded her head towards where her father stood behind her.

"yeah, sure! we can take you guys," the boy continued. "i'm kevin, and the one that called you pretty is sunwoo."

tucking her hands into the pocket of her hoodie and fiddling with her fingers, hyerim shyly grinned.

"i'm hyerim, and thanks, sunwoo."

she then beckoned joohyuk over and they followed as kevin and sunwoo led them to the office. on the way, the three teenagers talked about themselves until they arrived.

"this is it," kevin said. "we can't be seen because we're supposed to be in class."

"we're not usually ditchers!" sunwoo quickly added for the sake of hyerim's dad. "it's just that it wasn't the, um, best day for us."

the older simply laughed and patted his back. "it's alright, i used to skip class too."

"anyways, thanks for showing us here," hyerim smiled.

"no problem!" the two friends then took their leave, walking away with a wave.

"they're nice," joohyuk mentioned. "looks like you just made new friends and you haven't even enrolled yet."
