the weekend was finally around the corner. over the past days, hyerim had grown closer to both friend groups and now knew many people in her classes. the word of her being the new student got around the school within the week, and everywhere she went within the campus, someone always greeted her.
she was kindhearted to everyone and despite being awkward at times, she didn't fail to make everyone want to befriend her. but even though she was liked by seniors and underclassmen alike, she was only seen hanging out with either sunwoo's group or jisung's.
it was friday, and the school day had just ended. as usual, some of the boys were already at the front gates, waiting for hyerim.
"hyerim noona!" jeongin shouted. "over here!"
he wasn't that much younger than the rest but he was still a junior. he resembled jaeseong in many ways, and she always considered him as one of the boys she became closest to.
speaking of which.. i'm supposed to pick jae up today, hyerim reminded herself.
she skipped over to them and noticed that only six out of the thirteen were there.
"where are the others?" hyerim asked.
"club stuff," shrugged felix.
then they started conversing about their weekend plans, exciting or not.
"ugh, we're supposed to finish our history project," jisung sighed.
eric's eyes widened as he hit sunwoo's shoulder. "shoot, us too!"
"we'll do it tomorrow, don't worry."
"well~" hyunjin interrupted, turning to hyerim. "we're going to bee's before we go home. wanna join?"
"definitely!" she answered. "but is it okay if i pick up my younger brother on the way?"
jeongin gasped. "you have a younger brother?"
"yeah, and you remind me of him a lot," hyerim teased.
the younger stuck his tongue out at her but they soon shared a laugh afterward.
"let's go! i wanna meet little hyerim!" felix exclaimed, leading the way with eric.
bee's was one of the less populated tea and coffee cafés in the area. it was also in the middle of everyone's homes and the school, making it convenient for them to meet up there.
after five minutes of walking, they reached jaeseong's elementary school. he was leaning against the brick wall, moving rocks around with his feet.
hyerim called his name when they got closer and jaeseong's head shot up.
"hi, noona!" he shouted happily, holding his arms out as he ran to his older sister.
he hugged her for a second before looking up at the boys around her.
"who are they?" he asked. "are they bothering you? leave her alone!"
jaeseong stood in front of hyerim as if he could protect her from the six others.
sunwoo nodded his head. "i like him."
the girl rolled her eyes and laughed, bending down to match jae's height.
"they're my friends. that's sunwoo, eric, jisung, felix, hyunjin, and jeongin. guys, this is jaeseong."
"you two really do look alike," jisung pointed out.
jaeseong and hyerim shared a look and shrugged in sync.
"are you hungry, jae?" the latter asked.
"very!"
hyunjin smiled down at the boy. "then let's go!"
