I'm not the best with titles. Some are better than others, though.
Exactly as he predicted, Pidge got a bear hug from Hunk. Lance swore it almost made her burst into tears.
"Thanks guys," Pidge mumbled, once Hunk stepped back. "You're the best."
"Best friends," Lance corrected her, his mouth curling up into a small smile. To his surprise, Pidge smiled back. It was a reassuring act, as if to tell him that he was right.
"Yeah," Hunk agreed.
Pidge gave a small sniffle, which made both Lance and Hunk swoop in to hug her one more time. She needed all the hugs she could get.
Why?
He was uncomfortable the whole time!
He didn't flirt with her, she was the one that plopped down next to him and started getting handsy with him.
So why did he find her blood on his hands?
"Heyyy, Lance!~"
Lance looked up to see Nyma, one of the more popular girls at school. It was lunch time at the moment so everybody was in the cafeteria. Pidge and Hunk were distracted at the moment and not paying attention to Lance, as they were arguing about something he couldn't understand. She was twirling her gorgeous blonde hair and giggling, her bright pink contacts somehow seeming natural. Okay- Lance wasn't going to lie. She was beautiful.
"Oh, hey Nyma..." Lance said quietly, fear blossoming deep inside of him. A fear of what would happen to her later if he didn't push her away.
She sat down right next to him, and draped her arm around his shoulders. Lance froze, unsure of what to do or say. He felt as if somebody, everybody, was watching, observing the two of them. He felt those two eyes burning holes in the back of his head. Lance squeezed his eyes shut tight. It's not real it's not real it'snotrealit'snotrealit's-
"Lance?"
His eyes flew open and he saw Pidge and Hunk gazing at him worriedly, and even Nyma looked kinda worried.
"Lance?" Nyma tried again, nudging him gently. He hadn't noticed she had scooted back slightly, her arm back at her side.
"I'm okay," Lance said quickly, forcing a smile. "Really! Just thinking, that's all."
Nyma nodded and Pidge and Hunk returned to their argument. "Well, ah, I'll see you around?"
"Yeah, sure!" Lance replied, smiling again. He waved as she walked off, feeling relieved. She would be fine. Nobody was looking at them. Everything would be okay.
Why did this happen, redredredredred, why wouldn't she leave me alone-
Nyma wouldn't give up. She approached him during a free period, her hips swinging slightly, hair appearing recently brushed.
"Hey loverboy," she greeted him flirtatiously. "You've been awfully quiet these days. Something happen?"
Lance forced his attitude to brighten up. "Nah, I've just been tired lately," he lied.
All your fault, all your fault, you did this, you killed them all-
"Oh," Nyma said in understanding. "So the flirty sharpshooter we all know and love will return soon?"
Lance gave a small huff of laughter at the nickname, one he'd given to himself after he'd destroyed everyone at laser tag one day. "Yeah, maybe."
Nyma gave him a strange look. "Maybe? Lance, what does that even mean? Are you sure you're alright?"
Lance released a breath he hadn't even realized he'd been holding. "I'm scared," he admitted quietly, and just like that, all the emotions he'd kept inside of him were tumbling out, the walls he'd put up crashing down right before him.
"I don't want anybody else to die!" Lance cried, throwing his hands up. "I feel like it's all my fault."
Nyma pulled him into a tight hug. "I'm pretty sure it isn't, but you're kinda right with all of the girls being ones you've flirted with... But I'll stop flirting with you to keep it safe, okay?" She drew back, smiling softly at him. "I think I'd be fine with being just friends anyway. You're a lot to handle, you know?"
Lance chuckled lightly. "Yeah, I know... And thank you," he said sincerely. "I want you to be safe. So please don't get yourself hurt, okay?"
"Don't worry, Lance. I'll be fine."
Red.
So uh... Do you guys think I'm over doing it with the italic?
