Maddie's P.O.V

"I'm always exhausted." I groan and hold my stomach. "And the babies keep kicking hard."

Vincent's phone goes off as he and Cami we're talking about the killings that were definitely Lucien.

"Well, that's convenient. It's Kinney. They got Lucien at the station. I should head down there. They might need the type of help a gun can't provide." Vincent says standing up.

"I'll come with you. I want to hear what he has to say." Cami stands up as well making me stand.

"Yeah, same here." I say and walk away as Cami follows me and eventually Vincent.

The three of us arrive at the station and and watch behind the dimmed glass as detective Kinney walks in the room to talk to Lucien.

"Mr. Castle, thought you might want to see this." Will says dropping a file on the table as Lucien reaches to pick it up and opens it.

Lucien sighs, "huh, I read about this. Oh, those poor men. Oh, though in life, anything but poor. Solid gold cuff links, bulgari watches. Such ostentatious displays of wealth no doubt attracted the attention of some vile criminal element."

"You seem to know a lot about the case. Big fan do true crime?" Will asks him as Lucien closes the file.

Lucien chuckles. "Look at my watch, Mr. Kinney, my cufflinks. But for a twist of fate, one of those faces might be mine."

"Oh, you sound real frightened by the prospect." Kinney leans in as he continues, "You know, I'm my experience, people like you don't believe in fate. They make their own luck. Whether it's good or bad."

"Well, then I shouldn't be here long." Lucien smiles and leans in as well, "people like me tend to have exceptional lawyers to get us out of trouble like this. But while I'm here, you should know that I do hate to be bored. And you bore me." Lucien's chair scrapes against the ground as he stands up looking into Kinney's eyes. "I know that behind that mirror is Maddison Gerard. And I would very much like to talk to her. Alone."

Will takes the file and gets up without a word as Lucien looks at the mirror and waves with a smile and I gulp.

I look at him as he sits down relaxing and go to talk to him before Vincent speaks up. "No, you're not going in there."

"Vincent, he's not going to kill me in the middle of a police precinct." I roll my eyes and walk in going to sit down. "You asked to talk to me so here I can, willing to listen. Which, by the way, is more than you deserve."

"I thought New Orleans has the same burden of proof as the rest of the colonies. What is it? Oh, yes, innocent until proven guilty."

"The murders started the same day you got to town." Vincent says as he grabs a chair and sits next to me. "All the victims match a pattern of wealth that uh, you, yourself, seem to exude. Not to mention, we know what you are."

Lucien scoffs. "What I am is a ruthless, vicious, unstoppable killer. Which is not to say I had anything to do with this. Far from it."

"Why bother denying it? If you are what you say you are." I ask him tilting my head.

"Maddie, you don't know me. But if you did, you would see that we were the same. All four of us, actually. Four souls caught in the orbit of the family Mikaelson, yet somehow survived to tell the tale. Though each of us have our share of scars.

Lucien tells us a story from back when he was with the Mikaelsons and was still human. I gulp as I listen to it. "Even after all these years, you continue to reenact your trauma. You're choosing victims who are the contemporary equivalent of the privileged son who hurt you."
