Finally, the daylight is before me

Open

Crisp

And clear.

Like jumping into icy waters

Giving yourself up to the frosty morning

That you are suddenly

A part of.

I am holding hands

With my family

But all I want to do is run

In the melting dew of the grass

And touch the leaves of the trees

If only to know

That they are real

That I am real

And when the car door closes behind me

A slam that jolts me awake

And in my eyes are reflected

The world that

I am a part of once again.

And to be happy

I only ask that

I can smell the ocean breeze

And see the wind tossed waves

Welcome me home.

And I am happy.
