He poked his head from the door again. His hair fell towards the ground due to the pull of gravity, revealing his clean forehead that I never had because of puberty.
Wow...
"What?"
I scooted out from under the bed, stood up and brushed the dust of my clothing.
"I...need advice."
He slid out from under my bed sat on it, crossing his legs.
"I'm listening."
I walked over sat down next to him.
"Well, I work as an assassin and I'm getting this job offer so many times."I started off. My palms grew clamy, my head drooped.
"And I'm thinking of accepting it so the guy can stop bothering me but..."I hesitated.
He bends and looks at me straight in the eye,"So what is keeping you from accepting it?"
I fiddled with my fingers and pursed my lips. The pressure from Edward then forced it out of me.
"He wants me to kill his son so he stays in power."I said softly. He returns back to his original position.
"If you think you are going to regret it in the future,"he said, leaning back and using his hands as support,"then don't take it up."
I lifted my head to look at him, "You think?"
"Yeah. I mean, if you are going to regret it then what's the point?"
I smiled softly and nodded,"You're right."
"Thanks!" I grinned and tilted my head to the side so I could look at him.
I could be wrong, but I saw a slight blush sweep through his cheeks.
"You're welcome, I should return before my parents finds out I'm out
and kicks my ass." he sighs,"It's nice seeing you again, Naomi the human.""It's Naomi! Not Naomi the human!" I spat. He smiles and slides under my bed, disappearing.
My heart thumped so hard, it felt like it wanted to jump out.
I smiled sheepishly and covered my face. One of my hand holding on to the top of my head while the other latched onto the hand, allowing a cover for my face.
What is happening? The only time this happened was when I met Josh after summer break in grade 10!
I groaned and smacked myself as blood slowly leaked from my nose.
Snap out of it, you're a human and he's a koochu, there's no way it'll work anyways.
I cried internally and walked over to the kitchen's pantry. I took out a packet of lays and a packet of tissues from the living room then rushed to my bed. I ripped open the packaging and stress-ate the packet of chips while stuffing rolled up tissues up my nose. I scrolled through my social media feed. Slowly, my eyes grew heavy and bam! They shut and I fell asleep.
...
The morning came rolling by. I woke up with a confident aura surrounding me. I did my usual routine and went for work.
As usual for the last two months, I was called to the lobby café by Mr Yagisawa. Usually I would feel done but today, I walked down with a confident smile.
"How are you doing today, Mr Yagisawa?" I greeted with a smile. He looked at me confused but composes himself.
"Would you please accept the offer?" he asked, going straight into business.
I smiled at him, "What do you think?"
"Yes?"
"Nope! You guessed it wrong!" I grinned. Mr Yagisawa furrows his eyebrows at my sudden cheerfulness.
"Listen, I'm not going to do something that I'm going to regret for the rest of life."I said, looking at him intensely into his eyes,"If you are so desperate, look for another assassin. Though I don't recommend it."
I shrugged and continued,"Once you pass on, the power won't stay with you and you'll have to find a successor. And I'm sure the process will be tiring. Goodbye!"
I smiled kindly and left the table as he sat there, scowling. I heaved a sigh of relief.
Damn, that was such a burden. I did not even know that.
The rest of the day went smoothly and even better than the other days with my mood lifted.
...
My work was over and Josh had came over to pick me up since we had arranged a dinner some time ago.
We ordered our food upon reaching the restaurant and got our food after some time.
"You look happier."Josh said as he looked at me with his head rested on his hand.
"You're observant, aren't you?"I teased.
"Of course, I'm a scientist. I have to."he said sassily.
I laughed,"Well, I finally got the stupid man off my back!"
"Woah! Congrats!" he clapped his hands. I giggled.
"I guess this would be a congratulatory dinner!" Josh cheered as he raised his glass of red wine.
Even though I was spending time with Josh, I yearned to be with Edward at the moment which made me feel guilty.
I smiled bitterly and raised mine too.
"To the man leaving you alone!"
Our glass clinked and it marked the beginning of our congratulatory dinner.
...
Josh brought me back to my apartment and went back to his only after giving one of his charismatic smile and waving goodbye.
My face flushed lightly as Josh's silhouette slowly disappeared. I closed my door and slid down it.
Do I still have a crush on Josh?
"Damn, what's wrong with me?"I muttered under my breath.
Suddenly, I felt somebody towering over me.
"What what's wrong with you?"
I opened an eye to check omly to see a pair of yellow eyes stared back at me.
"WHAT THE FUCK?? WHEN DID YOU GET HERE? WHY ARE YOU HERE?" I shrieked and backed up against the door, causing my back to hurt a little due to the force I used to push myself back.
"Ouch..."
I lifted my head to look at him, he wore two metal shoulder pads on his shoulder and had a pair of long leather pants covering the bottom half of his body but no shirt on his upper body, revealing his packed abs.
He offered a hand to me and I accepted it. My face started to blush furiously and my nose threatened to bleed again.
"Well..."he rubbed the back of his neck, not making eye contact with me,"because of a certain somebody, I'm here."
