Soft piano music was playing on the background as Lisa sat comfortably on a fluffy white couch. A deep sigh escaped her lips as she looked around the room. A grand silver chandelier hangs on the ceiling that made her felt like she was in a five-star hotel lobby rather than a psychological clinic's waiting area.
There were not many people around. No one was waiting in line other than herself, it was like the whole clinic was just exclusive for her and her only. It was quite bizarre but it made her a little relieved.
She wasn't mentally sick. She was not fine, yes, but not to the point that she needed therapy twice a week. To her, it was stupid, a waste of time and money because she believed that no matter how much she paid or how much effort she put, it still wouldn't changed the fact that her heart and mind were already damaged.
"Lalisa Manoban?" A woman, probably in her late twenties, dressed in another perfectly white suit, called her name.
Lisa got up from the couch and straightened her black blouse that hanged loosely on her waist before walking towards the woman.
"This way, please."
She followed around, entering a unique doorway that leads to another room.
"Would you like something to drink?"
"Hot chocolate would be nice." Lisa smiled and sat on a velvet chair, just across to where the doctor's desk was located.
The woman nodded and retreated back to where she came from.
Lisa scanned the room. There was a huge transparent mirror wall with a stunning view of the garden outside, the sun filled the room with light and warm temperature that made the room oddly relaxing. Unlike the waiting room, there were a bunch of pictures hanging neatly on the white wall. The desk in front of her was filled with books and notes but as expected, it was arranged nicely and in order.
Her gaze stopped at the door on the back when it opened and a woman, wearing a white coat entered the room. The woman seemed to be a little young, probably in her mid-twenties, but Lisa figured that she must be the psychiatrist.
Lisa prepared to smile and wanting to make a good impression. She wanted the doctor to think that she was not as miserable as she seemed.
The doctor sat on her beige recliner chair and put her hands on the table, clasping it tightly. She stared at Lisa for a moment, taking notes of her appearance before she spoke.
"Hi, Lisa. I am Doctor Kim or you can just call me Doctor Jisoo or even Jisoo if you like."
Lisa nodded, she was too nervous to please the doctor that her own lips formed into a simper instead of a warm smile.
"I have read the files that your previous clinic sent us. It seemed like you were doing okay with them, why did you transfer here?"
Lisa answered honestly. "I don't like it there. It's too crowded and hectic. The other patients were quite... extreme."
The doctor nodded as she wrote something on her file.
"I see. That clinic really has a reputation. I'm glad you're here now, Lisa. Being with the wrong hands has an effect on you. I must say, you really don't look well."
Lisa didn't know if it was a compliment or if she should be offended, but she let it passed and continued to hear what the doctor has to say.
"How are you feeling lately, Lisa?"
It was a hard question. How was she supposed to answer that when she couldn't feel anything at all?
"I'm great." But of course, she had to lie.
