Three, two, one.
Jennie kissed Lisa.
It only lasted for about a second or two, but it was still a kiss. A peck on the lips when the clock turned twelve, just as when thousands of fireworks cracked up into the night sky, creating mesmerizing vivid lights (and pollution), a sign that new year had officially started.
Lisa was a little shocked of course but it wasn't like in the movies where time stopped or when everything was in slow motion or when seconds felt like hours, instead, Jennie's lips crashed on to hers like a blink of an eye, it was gone before she could even have a chance to feel it.
"Happy new year, love." Jennie whispered, her face inches away from Lisa.
Greetings and cheers of happy new years can be heard around them as they stand on the roof of KM Entertainment along with the crowd of tipsy celebrities and Seoul's most influential people.
Lisa could see Jisoo and Chaeyoung kissing from her peripheral vision, as well as Seulgi who was screaming and jumping in excitement in sync with the fireworks as it pop-ups in the sky.
Her long time friend, Ji-eun, was nowhere in sight and Lisa thought that she had probably already gone home which made Lisa a little disappointed that her friend didn't even stop to say goodbye. But Ji-Eun's disappearance should be the least of Lisa's worries because what should be on top of her mind was the fact that Jennie kissed her literally seconds ago.
She wanted to complain, that Jennie didn't even ask or seek for permission, she just kissed her right there on the mouth without consent, but Jennie was looking at her with soft delicate eyes and Lisa just couldn't find the courage to be mad.
"Was that okay? Shi- I'm sorry, I should've asked you first." Jennie said, her tone a little worried, probably agitated by Lisa's expressionless face. "Sorry, Lis."
Lisa bit her lower lip. She didn't really need an apology. The kiss was done, a sorry can ease her mind but it won't change the fact that Jennie's full red lips touched hers.
"No, it's okay." Was what Lisa said, instead. "It was only a new year's kiss, right?"
The brunette didn't really know how to respond so she just simpered and half-heartedly nodded.
"Okay, uhm, happy new year, Jennie." Lisa simply stated to ease the awkward tension that was building between them before she stepped a little away from Jennie and took a sip of her wine.
They watch together as the people around them celebrate the new year while the band was playing some upbeat song and most guests were drunk dancing along with it. It was such a happy and thrilling celebration in hopes for a better year.
Chaeyoung and Jisoo came to their spot a little later and gave them both a kiss on the cheeks. Lisa could smell the alcohol on her stepsister's breath when she greeted her a happy new year.
"Come on, you two, don't sulk in there. Let's welcome the year of the rat with a blast." Chaeyoung half screamed, trying to make her voice heard over the loud music and fireworks.
Lisa only chuckled at her stepsister's drunkness and let herself be dragged into the dance floor. She looked behind and saw that Jisoo was dragging a laughing Jennie, too.
"Lalisa, my precious gem! Let's dance!" Seulgi shouted when she saw them near her and grabbed both her hands as she guided her to dance.
Lisa's awkwardness from the kiss she and Jennie shared was out of her mind in no time as they all enjoyed themselves throughout the night. It was a rare thing for Lisa to put all her issues and negativity aside because she was an overthinker, but everybody was having fun and Lisa thought to herself that there was no reason for her to not have the same kind of fun, too. The wine helped her mind to be put at ease and she found herself tipsily dancing along with everybody.
