It was raining when Lisa finally stopped her car right outside her apartment building. The pouring rain made the window of her car blurry but when she looked up towards where her apartment was, she could tell that the light on her living room was open, a sign that Jennie was still in there.
There were missed calls on her phone and texts coming from Chaeyoung and Jennie but she did not even bother to look at it. All she wanted to do was to make her mind shut for a moment even when she knew that it was an impossible task.
The things she learned was something that made her life more chaotic than it already was.
Ji-eun didn't stop her when she learned that it was already two thousand and twenty, or when she learned that she and Irene broke up three years prior, but Ji-eun stopped her from looking just as when she was about to search for a woman named Jennie Kim-Manoban.
"Give Jennie a chance to explain, it's better to know the truth from her than with anybody else."
In the end, Ji-eun convinced her even when Lisa had been desperately trying to uncover more things that were intentionally hidden from her. But finding out more things means having more things to think about, and that would be a lot to process, a thing that Lisa couldn't do in just a day.
But she was right, though. Her phone had been altered, modified for her not to search the things that would make her eyes open about reality. She now understood why her social media were suddenly gone, and why every time she tried to use the internet and search, it just wouldn't work. It needed a lot of work for things like this to happen, for making her life revolved around something that was not real. It would amaze her, really, about the dedication that Jennie or Chaeyoung or Jisoo had done to make everything believable, but what she felt for that moment were anger and betrayal.
Lisa got off the car. The rain poured down on her. She didn't bother to get an umbrella for a cover, she didn't even run. She just... walked.
She felt like she has stuck in a bubble again, one where she could see everything but couldn't get out to reach it. Lisa knew that she had been lied to, but she was also afraid to know the truth. What if she was the one who was wrong? What if she did something wrong? Would she be able to forgive herself? Or would she be able to forgive Jennie once the truth is out?
She was too focused on the million questions that were running on her head that she didn't even know how she got into her apartment or if she even rode the elevator or if she just flew over there. She just suddenly stood in her living room, with her eyes locked at Jennie's worried ones.
"Lisa? What happened to you?"
Jennie was suddenly right next to her, with the brunette's warm hands touching her cold, wet cheeks.
"I'll make a warm bath for you." Jennie's words were soft, genuine and it was so loving that it made her heartache. A part of her wishes that it was probably better if she didn't know the truth, maybe she could still look at Jennie and only see the goodness in her.
There were still many unanswered questions because she knew how the brunette lied to her, but she still didn't know why.
A warm bath was prepared for her after a moment, and so was a fresh clean towel and new clothes that were folded neatly on the marble table right beside the tub.
She still didn't utter a word the whole time, even when Jennie asked if she wanted something to eat.
She stripped off her wet clothes once Jennie closed the bathroom door, and slowly put herself under the water, trying to drown her thoughts away.
