You were a gift to me
It did not take me long to see
That you would be a good friend
I will love you to the very end
I used to make you talk
And everywhere I went you would walk
Along the way we added friends to the nest
But you will always be the best
When I lost you that one time
It should have been a crime
But safely you were returned to us
After that I did not make a fuss
Since then I have always had a careful eye
For losing you again I think I would die
You do not look like what you once were
Because you were loved that is for sure
You are oh so special to me
My favorite stuffed dog, Cassie
This poem is based on my stuffed dog, Cassie who was given to me by my grandma a few days after I was born. My brother has different stuffed dog by the same company that was also given to him by my grandma. I even have a replacement one in case I ever lost the original. Which I did once but we were able to get him back. Yes, I did make Cassie a boy. I don't know how I decided that but that's what he is. I still sleep with him because it's something I can never let go of. I still take him on every vacation. He's the one part of my childhood I'll never let go of.
