The glass shattered due to the collision with the rock before it fell broken in small pieces. I freed the door's lock and held it open before I climbed in the car holding my injured left arm still against my chest, I could hardly feel the pain now that I'm all concerned about the driver's life.

"Hey, can you hear me? I'm here to help. You are going to be alright." I spoke trying to get any reaction or a sign of consciousness, there were none.

I leaned between the seats as I tried to check his heartbeat and to make sure he was breathing, but it was almost impossible to support my injured arm and to check his vitals from the back seat. He wasn't aware of what's going on, he was unconscious and his eyes were closed as a sign that he didn't probably hear me at all. Of what I saw, his injuries didn't seem to be that bad, he wasn't bleeding even with the broken glass around. But it didn't mean that he was okay, he can be internal bleeding and that was so much worse, I tried to get him back to his senses as I moved him back and forth lightly: "I'm here to help and you gonna be alright, I just need you to open your eyes if you can hear my voice!" I almost ordered him to do, he didn't understand why he couldn't die on me right now, I couldn't allow it, not again.

He didn't respond to any of my attempts, I was running out of options with the lack of reaction. I struggled to move inside the small area of the truck making my way painfully toward the passenger seat when I noticed the red rounded pills of some sort of medication distributed everywhere on the leather fabric of the car interior.

I was sitting in the passenger seat I could hear my tumultuous breathing as I tried to check his pulse, placing my fingers on his wrist I could slightly feel the small pumping of blood flow in his blood vessels, his heart was on a slow pace than normal but it was there beating. I felt hand touching mine when I realized that that the guy was looking at me with bewildered eyes.

"Hey! Are you okay? Are you in any pain?" I asked him, he seemed confused for a second adjusting what he just been through, before he answered: "I'm okay-..." he took a deep breath before he repeated almost to himself: "I'm okay."

"Look. I'm a doctor and I could help you, so if you're experiencing any kind of pain, you might as well tell me." I tried to sound more gathered and in control, even when I was so nervous with fear that I couldn't really help him, I was just making sure he was alive and remained in that state.

"I know that." He said as I took my hand away of his, feeling less necessary to keep the contact with his skin, I assured: "I called for an ambulance, they'll be here anytime now."

"Thank you for your bravery." I could sense the pain he felt in his voice. I was once more concerned about his condition. I asked: "Where does it hurt?"

"Trust me, there's nothing you can do." He told me shifting lightly in his seat, his hand holding the driving wheel for support, as he closed his eyes instantly as if he just wanted to block the surrounding including me.

"Are you light-headed? Do you have any kind of headache?" I asked moving closer to his side. He didn't respond to what I asked he rested his forehead on the wheel, I noticed the glimmering lights of red and blue. I could hear voices shouting out of the window by my side when I looked to the civil defender who tried to free us from the car.

"I can't thank you for endangering your life to save mine, but I have to tell you that I'm thankful for helping me tonight." The driver told me out of the blue, I didn't know how to respond to that.

"It's okay, help is here now," I said feeling less tensed as I turned to look at him, he seemed to fight a wave of pain as he looked out the window, I could see the difficulty of his breathing.

"Miss don't worry we are here to help you." The female paramedic flashed a light in my direction to get a better sight into the car, my eyes were barely adjusting the change in illumination, I tried to protect my eyes with my right arm, I could hear the muffled voice of the civil defender as he asked me to try open the door, I did freeing the locks from the inside before I stepped out of the car as I heard: "Are you alright? Do you feel pain anywhere?"
