"Say something! Do you know my brother?!" I yelled just to stop him from overthinking of lie to answer my question, the evidence was clear, I was looking for confirmation that's all. I saw his difficulty to answer my question, I tried: "Look, I'm sorry don't answer that. You clearly know who he is. It's a simple question where's Taehyung?" I asked before I saw Jimin walking toward the front door.
"Jimin!" I called following him when Seokjin stopped me. I turned to look at him before he told me: "please, be careful!"I looked to my arm in his hand before I nodded as he released me from his grasp with a small apologetic look.
I looked for Jimin when I heard a door being pushed open leading to the rooftop before it been slammed shut.
I found him standing there looking at the view of Seoul's reflected on the sea, the cold breeze of February brushed against my hair as I walked toward him before something made me hesitate.I heard his shout, a loud shout almost a scream of pain: "Jimin," I said his name not sure what to do next. His actions scared me, all I wanted to know was why my brother had anything to do with them. I couldn't think of worse scenarios, seeing Jimin this way paused all of the thoughts in my head. I didn't realize that I was holding my breath not daring to take any more steps toward him until I started to regain my senses walking toward him before I asked: "Jimin, how do you know my brother?"
He didn't answer me, I was afraid to look at him. I was afraid to see the tears streaming down his face, I feared the truth even when it was all I wanted to know: "What happened to my brother, Jimin?" I didn't know why he seemed to be the one who knew the answer to that question.
I formed my hands in fits as I cried: "I need to know, Jimin!"
"I don't know, I wasn't there. I swear I was nowhere near them when it all happened!" Jimin said trying to sound stronger than what he actually felt.
"What happened?"
"I can't tell you that, RM can explain it all to you tomorrow." I closed my eyes not able to see his weakness, I didn't want to believe that he actually had any feelings. If there's one thing I wanted to feel now it was hate, I wanted to hate Jimin for whatever he caused, for whatever he wasn't telling me about my brother.
I didn't say much as I walked back to Seokjin's place, I saw him sitting on the chair near Jungkook's bed. He looked at me a look of concerned. I set on the floor next to Jungkook I rested my forehead to the mattress when my breathing started to become hectic with the weight in my chest. I knew something bad happened to my brother, something Namjoon knew what it was. I didn't know which of these two facts was worse: The one that my brother was hurt because how naïve I was trusting a thug to be my truest friend or the one that my best friend for five years was some sort of a gang leader who used me in the worse way possible.
"I wish it can be different, Eunji." I heard Jimin before I felt his touch on my shoulder, I shuddered away looking at him: "Don't... don't get any closer to me" I said, something unexplainable was drawn on his face.A tear descended its way down my face.
"Please just stay away from her," Seokjin asked him before Jimin turned his attention to the doctor: "nobody asked you to be her guardian!"
"What are you going to threaten him now? Are you going to kill him too? I assume it's what you do, I wonder do you do it for living or because it's fun for your ill-being!" I yelled at him standing on my feet to face him, he was few centimetres longer and I didn't need to tiptoe to look him in the eyes.
"You know nothing about us, you don't get to judge us like you're the queen of them all!" Jimin was losing his temper and I wasn't going to fear his impulsive behaviour, not at that this point.
"Judge you, ha? Well, I had seen enough of you tonight to tell that a thug like yourself are nothing but a murderer." I said yelling back at him.
"Enough with you two! Someone was seriously injured tonight, he needs his sleep." Seokjin yelled standing between us two, I muttered: "sorry" as I sit back near the bed.
"You don't even mean it!" Jimin said.
"Stop it!" Seokjin said when Jimin went to sit near the door: "all of us have to tolerate each other for the upcoming few hours, trust me you're NOT the best company to be with but look at me I'm not complaining."
I rolled my eyes at Seokjin when I caught the same reaction on Jimin who was seizing his nails with teeth anxiously. Seokjin dimmed the lights except for the lamp near Jungkook's bed before he handed us blankets as he said: "try not to kill each other for tonight. I don't wanna deal with a corpse in the morning."
"That's not funny."
"I been told worse," Jin said as he checked Jungkook.
By the first trace of the morning light, a sound could be heard through the flat, I looked up to Jungkook to see that he was no longer there. I saw Seokjin sleeping in his own bed instead. I was surprised to see Hoseok who pointed at me to keep it quiet: "please don't wake the doctor."
"Okay." I said as he placed his jacket on my shoulder as he said: "follow me." Hoseok gave me hand to follow him. I stood out of the apartment when Hoseok activated the alarm system. I watched him as we made our way out of the building. I could see the cleaning service car stopped outside the clinic, I followed Hoseok to his car that was parked a few cars away.
He opened the passenger seat for me, I could sense his anxiety as he looked around for anything suspicious. He shut the driver seat close as he adjusted the rear mirror before I asked: "Where are we going?"
"RM couldn't be here as you asked him to, but I'm taking you to meet him." Hoseok said as he started to leave the parking spot, I asked: "What about Jungkook?"
"He's fine. We took him somewhere safe earlier, someone will look after him." Hoseok answered as he drove through the streets of North Seoul, I wondered if I'll be able to see him again, part of me wanted to check on him but the other just wanted this nightmare to end.
I hugged the jacket closer to me feeling the warmth of it against my shivering body. I was still in my nightclothes that has been smeared with Jungkook blood as a reminder that it wasn't just a nightmare. Hoseok turned the heating system on as he said: "I'm sorry about Jimin last night, I know he could be a pain but he was stressed about what happened."
"I understand."
"You do?"
"I know he was doing it out of despair, he was worried about his friend." It wasn't lying, I did understand why Jimin had to be difficult to deal with, but I wasn't exactly fond of him.
"I don't know if I can tell you this but Jimin saw it, he saw Jungkook getting shot instead of him and he blamed himself even if there was nothing to do, Jungkook was trying to watch over Jimin and Jimin would have done the same thing with Jungkook. It's just hard to see someone get hurt because of you."
"Yea," I muttered, I hated to feel this way about Jimin, to feel like I couldn't hate him in peace.
"Thank you for saving Jungkook, Dr Kim."
"I did what any doctor would have done to help him, you don't have to thank me." I said when Hoseok smiled as he took a turn to the right saying: "I know you are not an 'any'.""We are here now," Hoseok said parking the car near a small house. Nothing seemed suspicious from the outside but once the door was opened I was met by men who kept their guns at hands. I followed Hoseok inside, I could see a young lady holding a baby girl on the couch, I wondered what she was doing between these thugs. She didn't seem like one of them or had anything to do with gang business.
"This way," Hoseok said as he led the way to Namjoon. I wasn't really surprised when I saw him sitting with Suga and few of the gang members I met the night before.
"Welcome to our safe house."
"Can we have a moment please," I asked before he looked toward Suga his company started to leave us alone, I saw the door being closed as the last member left when I walked toward Namjoon.
"Eunji-..." he was cut off with the collision of my hand against his skin.
"That's for everything you did to me last night." His hand reached his face he moved his jaw a little as he said: "I probably deserved that."
"You almost got me killed last night! You sent thugs to my place to kidnap me! What kind of friend are you?!"
"They weren't supposed to kidnap you, I told them you were my friend, I'm sorry it went wrong."
"Went wrong huh?!" I folded my arms against my chest, I asked: "Where's Tae?!"
"He's alright."
"Where's Taehyung, Namjoon?!"
