Was it a coincidence? Is it happening accidentally? A matter of happenstance. I found this really hard to believe watching the driver from that night as he talked to the police while I stood in the operation room trying to get my thoughts together. He was the same man I was confident. He had the same features, the same hair length, and his voice was the same. I had a vivid memory from that night, I know I couldn't be mistaken him for another.
Or could I?
"I mean, I got the system installed just in case, but part of me never expected to actually hear it go off and be confronted with proof that someone was attempting to break in..." he spoke to the two police officers who came as result for the security alarm that went off.
"So," one of the two police officers continued, "you heard the alarm, came downstairs, discovered that the perpetrators had a runoff, and that's it?"
"I think they were terrified by the sound of the alarm. I was lucky, I guess." He said nervously forming a defensive fold of arms against his chest. If they were good with body language they would have known he was lying, but they didn't suspect him. They stood out there for a couple of minutes exchanging no words, they were waiting for him to hint if there's any problem going on or if he was forced to pull an act, but he remained silent.
"I think that it Dr Kim. If there's any problem you know how to reach us." The officer said before the man bowed respectfully as said: "sorry for the troubled officer!" He watched them go into their patrol car, he waved at them before he closed the front door of the clinic leaning his back to the material.
"We are leaving. We won't cause you any trouble, Dr Kim." Hoseok told him, the doctor seemed tired as his hands reached to remove the exhaustion away of his face as if it was actually possible, he asked: "you are the doctor who treated their friend right?" I nodded avoiding meeting his gaze.
"Do you mind if I checked your patient?" he asked for my permission, I hesitated before I told him a small word of agreement. It was weird the way I felt about watching him checking the stitches I just done. I almost felt nervous, almost holding my breath as he seemed focused on what he was doing. Couldn't he remember me? Did he have any memories left from that night? I kept wondering as he threw his gloves in the basket near the door.
"You did well. I can't believe you actually have a broken arm!" He said offering me a smile of impression.
"We'll leave this place, try to contact the police or anyone and let them know about what happened here tonight, trust me you won't get to see the hole I'll make in your beautiful forehead" Jimin threatened him. The doctor didn't pay him much attention as he said: "you can't move him anywhere tonight. He needs to rest, he'll stay here, one of you has to leave the other could stay." The doctor announced.
"I'll stay with him, call RM and let him know," Jimin said when I turned to look at him unbelieving that he actually asked to stay with the doctor he just threatened.
"I can't let you stay if you are going to point that gun at me the whole night." Dr Kim told him as he measured Jungkook's temperature, Hoseok opened his hands to Jimin who gave him his gun: "satisfied?!"
"Oh, very."
"If you please follow me I'm taking you home, it's RM's orders." Hoseok told me when doctor Kim said: "She's not going anywhere with you tonight, she's staying here, she can take the bus home tomorrow morning.""It's okay. I can leave with him. I won't cause you any more trouble, Dr Kim." I said as I walked toward Hoseok who was standing near the door.
"Please, I know you saved a thugs life because you are a doctor and that's the kind of thing you must do. But trusting them with your own life is something you might regret it."
I looked at Jimin then at Hoseok they were Namjoon friends and they didn't hurt me even when they could have. I didn't trust any of them but I trusted Namjoon and that was enough for now. I can leave with Hoseok it was fine, but something entirely different was urging me to stay.I was worried.
I had seen enough to tell that Jimin was impulsive, he could go violent with the doctor. I know he was probably going to try to strangle him in his sleep if he has to and won't have to pull back.
"Okay, I'll stay," I said looking at Jimin who seemed unhappy with my decision.
"Can you tell Namjoon something for me?" I asked Hoseok who was standing near his car parked near the clinic nodded: "yea, sure."
"Tell him I wanna see him first thing in the morning, he better be here when the sunrise."
"I'll let him know," Hoseok said before he went into his car. He turned the engine on before he drove down the street.
I walked inside closing the door before I saw the doctor helping Jimin with Jungkook. I ran to assist them, I let the doctor go as he led the way up the stairs where his apartment was.
It was a small place. One room. A bed could be seen in the corner near the single window, there was a small kitchen area. There was a lot of textbooks laying on the table near the bed. I had to think that he was probably going through some paperwork when he heard the noise from downstairs.
"Just put him on the bed." The doctor said before he started to cover Jungkook's body with the blankets to protect him from the cold night.
