Dex felt nervous as he sat on the plane approaching the sixth hour into his seven and a half hour flight. He'd never done anything so impulsive, his head was spinning with thoughts. Was this a bad idea? Would he regret it? Would he even find her? She had ignored all his messages and calls, which he knew meant she probably didn't want to be found.
He tried to mentally prepare himself for rejection, he knew that the romantic moment after travelling across the world to see her was probably in reality going to be an awkward argument and another seven-hour flight back home. The only thought keeping him going was that he had to try, if he was back on the plane to New York in a few hours at least it would be knowing he did everything he could and if she sent him packing, that was her decision. He hadn't even considered the fact that he was going to be alone in a relatively unknown country to him, with none of his security, none of his bandmates, no one at all, once he got to London. Felix was working there so he was going to have to go it alone from that point. As he thought more about it he began to feel anxious, he was a shy guy and he was going to have to deal with all the fans, the screaming, being mobbed, without anyone to save his ass! As much as Mac drove him nuts with all the rules and regulations, Dex wished he was with him right now.
"Fe, are you awake?" asked Dex, poking his brother in the arm.
"Ouch! I am now, Dex!" he groaned.
"Sorry, man. How long til we land?" he asked.
Felix pushed himself up so he was sat straight in his chair; he pulled back his sleeve and looked at his watch. "Uh, around an hour," he replied.
"Thanks," replied Dex, his nerves were building and he couldn't help but fidget in his chair. His hands wouldn't keep still as he rubbed them together in his lap, his restless feet tapping on the floor.
"What's up, man?" asked Felix. "You seem anxious, everything okay?" he asked. He'd seen Dex nervous plenty of times, he'd been to his shows, he'd seen him in an awful state of anxiety before performing on TV shows and at awards ceremonies. He knew his brother suffered badly with his nerves but he didn't have his band with him so he wasn't going to perform in the UK, Felix didn't understand why he was so edgy.
"Uhh... yeah, just not looking forward to being here without my security," admitted Dex.
"What are you even coming over for all on your own, why aren't the rest of your band coming?" asked Felix.
"It's... uh, more of a personal trip," said Dex.
"Ah, you're going to see Lucie?" said Felix, wondering why he would be nervous about that. She would have her security team ready for him at the airport, she was a pop star too, she knew the drill.
"Not exactly," Dex said, praying for Felix not to interrogate him.
"I'm lost, man!" said Felix, bewildered, his forehead wrinkled. Dex sighed at the thought of having to explain it... again! "I broke it off with Lucie" he started small.
"Oh, why dude?" asked Felix. To him, on the outside Lucie was perfect. He was a little bit jealous that his brother had landed such a gorgeous girlfriend. Felix was the more obviously attractive of the two. Sure, Dex was a good-looking guy, but he was short and thin, and in contrast to his brother's confident personality Dex was shy and sweet, almost childlike. Felix shared a lot of Dex's features, it wasn't hard to tell they were brothers but Felix was tall and he worked out, his big strong arms framed a masculine chest and hard washboard stomach, his short dark hair and deep brown eyes gave him an almost Mediterranean look about him. He could never quite understand how his little brother got so much female attention, girls literally threw themselves at him wherever he went. He had marriage proposals from strangers, declarations of love on a daily basis and it was totally wasted on him, Dex hated it! It seemed beyond incomprehensible that Dex would let Lucie go, to Felix, she was perfect!
