"Commander James, we've got movement at the house. The front door is opening," came the voice of one his teammates over the earpiece he'd slipped in as soon as he'd left the house, "A female is waving at the parked team in front. Moving to check it out."
"Copy," came James' voice in his ear, and Malcolm turned his attention back to the road. He was driving way too fast for the crowded streets, but normally calm and steady Telia had sounded like she was ready to lose her shit. Malcolm had seen what Telia was capable of when she unleashed. It was a mistake to underestimate any female, but a female Alpha missing her mate? He shuddered.
"Malcolm," James' voice broke the silence in the car.
"I'm here," he felt his body shift as he made a right turn that would have made Selah grab the "Oh shit" bar.
"Mal," James sounded hesitant and it brought Malcolm up short.
"What's happened?" he questioned his commander not caring if he sounded brusk He wouldn't contact him over the open radio like this if it was something trivial.
"The Omegas at the house found Selah's phone in the rear bathroom."
"What?" Malcolm roared and slammed on the brakes hard enough that the rear end of the car swerved and smoke drifted up from the tires. Car horns blared around him, but Malcolm's attention was solely on his commander.
"Selah's missing. The Omegas searched the house to return her phone to her, but she's not in the house. There's no sign of forced entry. The Omegas signaled the team outside as soon as they realized she was missing. Her phone was unlocked, and the team reported that she started a text message to you. All it says is 'Ashlyn.'"
"Son of a bitch!" he pounded the steering wheel.
"Sir," the voice of one of the Alphas covering his house patched in, "we found the video of her leaving. She exited the back door of the residence fifteen minutes ago wearing a green jacket. She ran to the woods behind the property and then she disappears from sight."
"He must have got to her. Somehow he got past us and made contact." Malcolm ran his fingers through his hair and pulled roughly at the strands.
"If he'd told her he has Ash, she'd go to him," James' low tone had a hint of resignation before Malcolm heard steel stiffen his commander's words, "We will get them back, Malcolm. Both of them."
The team had mobilized to find Ashlyn, but with another of their mates in danger, the predatory nature of the team's Alphas rose to the front. Orders started flying over the comm system as James connected with his team to track down their two missing Omegas. Security teams at the house would stay in position in case this was a diversion, but for the rest of the Alphas? The hunt had just moved to a whole new level.
Malcolm slammed his fist onto his steering wheel twice before refocusing on the task at hand momentarily losing his control. He'd just gotten his mate back.
He couldn't lose her again.
Where the fuck was his Omega?
What the fuck was I thinking? Selah railed internally as she sat in the car's driver's seat. She didn't have her hands on the wheel as the car was locked into self-driving mode, and the coordinates already entered. Even if she had wanted to stop and turn around she couldn't. Once she entered the vehicle, the locks had engaged trapping her in the car. She'd tried stepping on the brakes, changing the route, and even attempted to open the car door while they stopped it at an intersection to no avail. She was trapped even without the aide of the car. She couldn't leave Ashlyn to face whatever that psychopath was doing to her.
