I originally self-published The Whistleblowing Couriers on July 2nd, 2018. Since that time, as the world and I have changed, I have a brief postscript.
I forgot to thank Gurinder Chadha's "Quais de Seine" and Tamer Shaaban's "Jan 25th - Take what's yours! (Egyptian Revolution)".
Since the self-publishing of the book, people spoke out against AIB. I believe the survivors, am moved by their courage, and condemn AIB's unforgivable actions. Similarly, many of the people and institutions who I have thanked are certainly problematic. That reflects changes in how I view the world. However, to edit my book in such a way would be an act of cowardice, as it would be a cowardly attempt to reflect a better person who did not exist at that time.
The only edits to the original novel are this postscript and the removal of blacked out, self-censored names of prominent figures, institutions, and corporations. In regards to the latter, I simply made visible the names that I had made invisible out of fear.
Regardless of your views of my novel, I appreciate you reading my words. I welcome all criticism.
Defend democracy in whatever way you can.
Sincerely,
Arvind Reddy
Post-postscript: I chose to withdraw my book from publication and release it into the public domain for countless reasons. The beginning of my journey to realize that literary profits are meaningless and literary democracy is paramount was the moving courage of Ursula K. Le Guin and her speech at the 65th National Book Awards in 2014. May she rest in power.
