CHAPTER 3
SCHOOL YARD SCUFFLE
Yotto's adrenaline was pumping from waking from the nightmare, heart racing, and muscles tense, Yotto was not going back to sleep anytime soon. He got up from his bedroll and immediately removed his shirt and wiped his forehead. The room felt hot and stuffy so Yotto slid open his door, letting the cool morning air rush inside. The sun was just starting to rise and hadn't peaked on the horizon, giving the outside a dark blue color. Yotto breathed deep. "Man, what a night." he said to the empty room.
Yotto gathered a change of clothes and headed to the bathhouse. If he was going to be up before the sun then he would take advantage of it. When Yotto got there he was all alone. All the other students were still asleep and he doubted he would be bother this early.
The bath was hot and steamy, relaxing his tense muscles as he soaked. He tried not to think of that awful dream, but that was nearly imposable. Who were those people? Where was I at? Yotto let out a deep sigh as he started to wash his long hair.
After his bath Yotto was back on the same mountain ridge before the sunrise. He sat cross-legged on the edge overlooking the east, trying to focus his mind and block out his troubles. His head throbbed with that dream, along with everything else coming up. However Yotto finished his meditation and made his descent back down to the monastery. This time master Poe didn't make an appearance, but Yotto surely wished he did. He could really use his wisdom right now. Before he had time to second guess himself Yotto jogged through the gates and strait for master Poes dojo. Mater Poe always seemed to be able to shed some light on his dilemmas, and with that horrible dream, maybe He could tell him something.
Although it was still early, several monks were beginning to merge from there dens and start there day. May of the students shot Yotto hateful glances as he passed by but he ignored them, feeling he had more important things to deal with. The glances did bother him a little more than normal today and the blond monk couldn't really tell himself why.
As Yotto approached master Poe's dojo he noticed that the sliding doors were shut. "Thats odd" Yotto thought. Master Poe always left those sliding doors opened in the mornings to let in the fresh morning air. With a closer look and a knock he concluded his master wasn't there, but Yotto didn't have time to hang around this morning. He had to get to the mess hall for breakfast and today for his choirs he was the dishwasher.
When he got to the mess hall it was already full. Students took bowls of food to thier seats while others scooped the breakfast in bowls. Yotto took his bowl of gruel and headed for his seat without a word to anyone, hoping to eat and leave in time to catch master Poe.
Yotto sat at the end of the benches next to the wall and started eating. He soon seen Arty walking his way, knowing he was coming to eat with him. As he made his way across the mess hall a foot shot out from one of the benches and Arty stumbled. Bending his knees and spinning to his right, Arty was able to keep his balance and make it to Yotto's table. The foot belonged to JoNeek and he and his friend just laughed at Arty's near fall. With a heavy sigh Arty sat down across for Yotto.
"I see your balance and reflexes have greatly improved over the last few years." Yotto said trying to deflect the anger rising inside of himself. He wanted nothing more to smash JoNeek in the face for his stunt.
"Yeah, who knew I could not face plant and make a fool of myself." came Arty's reply with a smirk, and they both shared a laugh. They sat there and finished there breakfast, and Yotto went to the kitchen to start his dishes.
