CHAPTER 7
THE RIDERS OF BRAG
Captain Dorian Brag lead his team out of the city gates of Bishop Soaring. He was asked by Alexander Gallon, the king of Gallon Port, to escort Lady Kusandra back to the city she now governed. She was a young lady, in her early twenties, and taking over the position of High Bishop, after her father passed. When the generous and protective king insisted the new Governor be escorted back to her city, she of course asked that the Riders of Brag be her escorts.
Captain Brag would have normally been a little agitated, his team being sent to be escorts for the Governor of another city, but things had been quiet around the kingdom as of late and Captain Brag and his crew were itching for any reason to leave the great city of Gallon Port. So without a slight hesitation, the crew loaded up and headed east to Bishop Soaring.
At twenty eight Captain Dorian was the youngest officer in the Gallon Port army. Gallon Port was a city known for its strong navy and pirate hunting vessels, but over the past five years Captain Brag's team had become one of the most well known scouting crews in the entire kingdom. As their fame grew, the people of Gallon Port began calling the team the Riders of Brag, for the teams undying loyalty to their captain.
Dorian's father, Damien Brag, was once the general of Gallon Port, and one of the best leaders he knew. Not only was general Brag a great battle strategist, but he knew how to get the most out of his soldiers.
His son Dorian, graduated from the academy at eighteen, with honors, and was a squad leader by twenty. Dorian Brag was showing to be molding into a leader as talented as his father, but at twenty three his whole world changed.

When the old king died he passed on the kingdom to his son Alexander, as tradition called for. The new king showed all the kindness and love for the people his father did, and the whole kingdom was happy for there king Alexander Gallon. General Brag however, was very bitter about the change. He believed he should lead the kingdom he expanded and protected over the years, not the twenty year old kid that was a baby when he defended HIS kingdom.
The young Dorian was torn between what was right and the oath to protect the king, and the love for his father, the man who raised him and taught him to be a soldier. Dorian tried to plead with his father, but he would not listen. The general planned to over throw the young king and take over as the ruler of Gallon Port. He even convinced a large force of soldiers and a battle mage to rebel with him. General Brag was a great strategist and used his force to reek havoc on the castle, while he and a small team slipped inside the castle walls.
The interior of the castle was well defended and by the time General Brag reached the king's chambers, he was alone, his team dead from the battle of getting to the king's door. The general pushed open the king's double doors, expecting to see the young king cowering in a corner somewhere, instead stood his son.
In full armor and armed with his sword and shield, Dorian stood blocking the path to the new king.
"Stand aside Dorian..." the general said, pointing his bloody sword at his son. "...and know your place, boy."
"My place is here father..." Dorian said, squaring his shoulders and looking the general in the eyes, "...protecting the king, as my...as OUR oath states."
" What about the oath to your father? The one where you stand by my side as my son." the general said through gritted teeth.
"The father that raised me is already dead..." Dorian said, with hurt in his voice. "...the man I loved and idolized would never betray the king we were sworn to protect." Dorian unsheathed his sword and brought his shield up defensively. "Please father, don't do this, it doesn't have to end this way." the young soldier pleaded.
