Chapter 8

Halloween Special

We sat around a table in the forest. Hazel sat in the middle of Leo and I. Ifelt little upset about not being able to sit next to him. Although Hazel kept whispering to him it looked a little suspicious. I wanted to ask Leo about what she was saying but it would look even more suspiscous.

" So what are we doing for Halloween?" Percy Asked as he reached for Annabeth hand. He smiled at Annabeth and looked back at the group.

"We could go to another one of my dad's party." Piper suggested

I felt a little uneasy about going to another party. Especially if it would be a repeat of last timeand I didnt want that.

Jason stared at me from across the table. Lately he's been talking to me more than usual. Last night he came to my cabin around 11 just after I got back from seeing Leo.

" Nico, I've been thinking lately about Rome. I feel like I failed this whole time. I know its Hera fault that I-" Jason didnt finish his sentence. It was like saying it would make the wound open even more.

" Jason, I know how you feel. I used to feel like I always failed my father. He usedto wish Bianca would be alive rather than me." I said looking down at the ground. " Eventually I stood up to him. The truth is that I couldnt take it anymore. Bianca was all I had and the gods or fates took it away from me. I know its sounds unreal that I Nico di Angelo is talking about my feelings."

I took a deep breath and looked at him.

Jason looked teary eyed. I could tell that the stuff he told me now. He never told anyone else not even Piper. There was a part of me who wanted to do something to comfort him but I didnt know how.

" Your human Nico its okay to have these feelings."

I shaked away the thought of the conversation last night. These past few weeks felt unreal I was actually getting a life now. Not being that scared boy who ran away from everything.

" Any ideas Nico?" Hazel Asked looking at me intentally.

I looked at her confused unsure of what to say.

Annabeth started talking about how she thought about going to a haunted house on ninth street. Everyone nooded.

"But how are we going to get there?" Leo Asked " Argo II is still under repair after .." Leo his eys started to tear up a bit.

I knew that he meant after rescuseing Calypso and that he still was heart-broken over her. Apart of me had a feeling that us wouldnt last forever with her around.

" I could shadow travel with Hazel's help." I suggested

" Or my mom could drive." Percy Said with a happy look on his face.

" That's great. Let's just squeeze into A van and have Percy's mom drive us to a midnight party. That not lame at all."Leo Said scarcastically

They all laughed except for Percy. He shot Leo one of his annoyed looks.

" So shadow travel it is." A familiar voice said

Frank Zhong stood there in his purple toga clenching his spear. He gotten taller since the last time I'd seen him.

Hazel got up from her seat and tackled him in a big hug. Frank wrapped his arms around her and picked her up in a big hug.

" What a entrance." Leo Said as he got up and pat Frank on the back. " Havent seen you in a while Zhang."

" Nice to see you too Valdez."

Leo walked and sat down next to me. He put his hand ontop of mine under the table.
