"Ooh, we're disobeying!" Giggles said excitedly.
Gwen nodded, continuing working on the lock on the window.
Honestly, why did they lock the window? They already assumed she was all for the execution, or whatever word they used, of her beloved friends.
What did they think, she was gonna escap- Oh yeah, she is.
"Is it a long way down? Do we have to tie blankets together to go down?" Candy asked, just as excited.
"No, it's a simple small jump." Gwen said, then let out a frustrated whine when the darn thing refused to open.
Before she could sulk under blankets, Blood spoke up.
"Find something hard to bash it with."
Gwen nodded and looked around, then stopped to listen if anyone was coming near. She froze when footsteps neared the door and she hurriedly lunged for the bed.
She just had enough time to make herself look as relaxed as possible when Kyle opened the door. She looked at him and smiled a little too forced then she'd like.
"Hey, how you holding up?" He asked, leaning on the frame.
"Good." Gwen answered, looking at the wall, still smiling.
"What a time for Justine to be out shopping." Kyle said, attempting small talk. "Usually, she holes herself up here and binges through any anime series she gets her hands on."
Gwen nodded, still smiling. Kyle's mouth twitched downwards. This was terrible, he never was good at this. Gareth was the socializer, not him.
"I'd probably be making cookies or exploring places Sle- they tell me not to." Gwen said, having a strong feeling she should not talk about the mansion. "Last time, I found a gross magazine that me and Jane ended up burning and her cursing Jeff's name."
She laughed, remembering the anger in Jane's eyes. Which was weird since they were pitch black. Pretty dark color.
"Who're they?" Kyle asked.
"My friends. Jane was with me before I ran." Gwen answered.
Kyle nodded, then turned. "I'll leave ya for a bit. Justine'll be here soon."
Gwen watched as the door shut, then grabbed the hammer she found while avoiding Kyle's eyes under a dresser.
"Why was there a hammer there? It's kinda weird."
"Maybe in case of a break in, or they fixed something in here or forgot."
Gwen aimed and rose her arm, her hand shaking with the handle of the hammer. Then quickly, she brought it down as hard as she could and succeeded in breaking the window handle.
She breathed out a laugh and managed to open the window far enough to wriggle herself out.
She winced as a sharp pain ran up her foot when the jump was a little higher than she anticipated. Then looked around and then wondered where she would go.
"Go left, through the gap between the blue houses."
She nodded, and took a step. Maybe a nice person could let her stay for a night, or any number they'd allow, then wander. Yes, that would be acceptable.
"Where you heading?"
Gwen froze, her breath catching when she heard him.
"Thought you're supposed to be waiting for Justine, and this window's broken." Oliver commented. "Wonder why."
Gwen swallowed, glancing over her shoulder to see the dark haired boy looking at her with suspicion. She turned slowly and opened her mouth to say something, anything, when a thought ran through her head.
'Kill him, get rid of him.'
