--Gavin's POV--

After an anticlimactic and awkwardly silent car ride to the police station, Conan and I received the entirety of our case. The suspect was a child android, surprisingly, who had been accused of murdering both their parents. We were going to be working with both Connor and Hank.

The address in question led to a run-down house near the edge of Detroit. "Doesn't seem like a very wealthy family, how'd they get an android?" Hank commented gruffly when we stepped onto the property. "They won it in a lottery, Lieutenant," Connor said. "There's a news story about it dating back approximately two years, six months, and three-"

Hank cut him off. "Jesus, Connor, no need to be so specific." Conan and I didn't say anything, the space between us still felt weird because of the events at my apartment. However, the android still seemed curious about me. I looked over at him to find that he was...gazing at me? I looked away quickly. "Let's, uh, go inside," I said hurriedly.  I noticed a black haired girl staring at us strangely from across the street before I went inside. 'She's probably just wondering what we're doing here,' I thought.

"Detroit Police, come out with your hands up!" Hank shouted over the sound of a passing train nearby. The interior of the house was in even worse shape than the outside, if that was possible. Almost any furniture with fabric had been stained, torn, or both. The television hung crooked and shattered on the wall, and ripped up dog toys were strewn across the floor. I just hoped the dog was unharmed or had run away long before our arrival. Luckily, in another room, we found the dog curled up - a golden retriever - next to the open bag of food.

Connor bent down to pet him while he scanned him for any signs of mistreatment. "He's fine, but I noticed he has an unhealthy amount of ticks and fleas on him. The best decision would be to take him to the closest animal shelter or veterinarian." A strange noise broke the silence that stood in the house. It came from what looked to be the android's room.

"Detective Reed and I will investigate it," Conan said. His voice was like Connor's, but had an unidentifiable accent and was a touch more refined. As we entered the room, his shoulder brushed mine, and I felt a chill run down my back. 'What is wrong with me?' I thought. 'He's an android, I'm a human. I can't have feelings for a piece of plastic like him.'

Movement in the corner of the room caught my attention. I hovered my hand cautiously over my gun. Conan stepped in front of me, however. 'The nerve this thing has, to put itself in harm's way.'  Strangely, though, I felt concerned for the android's safety. I shook my head.'Pull yourself together.'

"Detective, I believe the suspect is hiding underneath the bed." Conan pointed at a twin-size mattress in the corner, covered with pink sheets and pillows. This must've been another family who treated the android like their own kid. I pulled the gun out of my holster. The android could still have a weapon on it. I got down on my knees and looked beneath the bed. An Alice model android laid underneath the bed. "Are you going to hurt me?" she asked quietly. "No, we just wanna talk," I replied.

She crawled out from under the bed. Her clothes were coated with dried blood "My...my parents..." the android murmured. Conan picked her up and put her on the bed. "We're just going to ask you a couple questions," he said. Hank and Connor walked into the room. "What's your name?" Connor asked. "Alice," she replied. "Alice, did you kill your parents?" She was silent in response. I noticed her LED flashing red and yellow. I leaned over to Hank.
"Deviant?" I whispered. "Yes," he replied.

--Conan's POV--

While the others were busy interrogating the android, I decided to attempt a reconstruct of the earlier events. I noticed red and blue blood both in several areas of the house, most notably splattered across the kitchen floor and the living room. Some of it was older, dating back to several weeks and even months, but there were recent samples of both bloods. Human blood trailed from the kitchen to the dining room, then to a door outside. Before walking out, I noticed a knife missing from the kitchen.

Two knives, to be precise. I noted it as nothing more than the suspect needing two weapons, for two corpses.

I went through the door, following the trails of faint blue blood and fresh red blood out into a garden. Wilted flowers and rotted vegetables sat in broken wood planters. I stepped hesitantly, in case there was someone or something nearby. I heard a rustle of leaves, then dismissed it as just the wind. I told Connor where I was, hopefully he told Gavin or Hank and one of them would come help.

Unfortunately for me, a child leapt onto me right then. She brandished a wide steel knife– already covered in blood, blue and red, and brought it down into my shoulder. This kid wasn't an android, she was bleeding red from a cut in her arm. Black hair flared out from a ponytail, and her eyes gleamed menacingly. I picked her up and threw her gently onto the cobblestone ground, careful to turn her so she didn't hit her head. "Connor, I need help!" I sent out another message.

She came at me again with a thrust, I caught her wrist and pulled it downwards. A sinister grin sat on her face behind the knife. A frightening laugh filled the air as I heard the door behind me open. "Conan!" Gavin exclaimed. "Grrh...get out of here! Go!" I yelled. The girl, seizing her moment, went for the kill, and stabbed the knife through my hand, and into my torso.  Androids shouldn't be able to feel pain, but it still hurt. I groaned as she pushed it deeper, and several alerts came up in the corners of my vision.

I could feel myself shutting down, I could feel the blue blood flooding out. I looked at Gavin desperately, before I watched the girl pull out the knife, and go for him. She cut his arm, before I saw Connor come through the door. He tackled the girl, pulled the knife from her hands, and threw it to the side. My vision blinked. I didn't have much time.

I dragged myself to a planter, and propped myself up beside it. "Gavin," I said. Connor was still struggling to hold down the girl. "No, no, no, no, no, no," he muttered. "I...I didn't realize a child could be so...ruthless."
"Can I fix you?" he asked, completely ignoring what I just said. "Yes," I replied, "But I don't have much time and I need android parts now."

I watched my vision darken. So this is what it's like to shut down, to die. "I'll see you tomorrow, Detective." I closed my eyes, and shut down. The last sensation I felt was being held gingerly by Gavin, as he cried into my shoulder.

(oh my lord this was long sorry about that)
