(A/N: mention of suicide tw)

--Conan's POV--

Blue letters scrolled across my vision. "UPDATE COMPLETE", the message said. I sat up. I felt a strange sensation in my shoulders.  I looked down to see that my wounds were in the process of...healing? CyberLife must have added something into my software that let me heal myself. It's certainly more convenient and saves resources, so that's good. 'But I still don't know where I am,' I thought. I looked around the room. I was on somebody's bed, in somebody's room. The sheets were stained with traces of old blue blood, specifically mine. I shifted my position on the bed and noticed someone's hand interlocked with mine. I checked it for a pulse; it was fading, but the human was still alive for now. I saw the human's face and gasped, realizing it was Gavin. He held an empty bottle for prescription pills in his left hand, and was holding my hand with his left. I dropped his hand briefly, before the full realization of what happened set in.

"Did he...no...he couldn't have..." I found myself say aloud. Something shifted inside of me, and I felt a tear roll down the side of my cheek. This...this wasn't normal. I'm an android, I can't have these kinds of feelings for a human. "Gavin, why did you do this? I'm not dead, I..." That's what must have happened. Was Gavin was too unprepared to see the "death" of an android up close? I pushed past the grief sitting heavy in my circuits, and sent a message to Connor detailing what had happened. I sat by Gavin's side for a moment before noticing a journal on the dresser. I opened it to see multiple entries, some neat and organized while others were crazily scrawled. I carefully looked over each entry, saving each one to a confidential file in my data bank. I was curious about Gavin's past.

After a few minutes of browsing Gavin's journal, I heard Hank and Connor enter. "Conan! What happened?" Hank yelled from the doorway. "He...Gavin, he's..." I couldn't bring myself to say what had really happened to Gavin. I felt sick, I felt like nothing I'd ever known. I leaned over the side of the bed and pressed my hand to my mouth. Was I going to vomit? I didn't know if I could, but the pain was getting worse and worse and it was spreading up my throat. I gripped the side of the bed harder, hoping that this was just another software malfunction. I felt my stomach and my throat tighten as dark blue liquid began to drip from my lips. That ended the pain, for what I hoped was a while. I felt Connor's hand on my back, and I sat up, panting.

"I, I'm sorry Hank, this was my fault. If I was able to withstand that injury at the house earlier, this wouldn't have happened, I'm, I'm so sorry. Please, forgive me," I pleaded. "Hey, hey, hey, calm down now. It's not your fault he-" Hank swallowed. I could tell he was trying hard to hold back tears. He turned around, unable to say the last few words.

I covered my hands with my eyes, still trying to come to terms with this reality. He's dead. Gavin Reed, my partner, was dead.

A/N: Announcement time! I'm going on an official hiatus (yes sorry I already haven't updated in a long time) because honestly I'm too busy. Chances are I'll update once I have an actual idea of how the rest of this story's gonna go.

Either way, thanks for reading my story!
