Fair warning I wrote this as an assignment for 8th grade English class but was talked into publishing it. The poem was supposed to be about a sad tragedy. I apologize in advance.

"Oh mama! Oh papa! Oh where have you gone?"
The water we once sailed on now pools around my feet.
"Oh mama! Oh papa! Oh where have you gone?"
I am being pushed and shoved by people I never did meet."Oh mama! Oh papa! I'm starting to float!
They won't let us on the deck, they've locked the gate!
"Oh mama! Oh papa! I see you in the life boat!
Where are you going? No mama! Papa! Please wait!Oh mama! oh papa I see something beneath the gate
I tell a grown up and he says it's the key!
Oh mama! Oh papa! They need someone with small hands to reach through the grate!
That's when they all look at meOh mama, oh papa everyone is pushing me under water towards our escape!
I struggle at first but then take a deep breath
Oh mama! Oh papa! I've given them the key! They've opened the gate!
I share in our short triumph before I am trampled to death.——————
