It was Thursday, and a week had passed since we had gone to the beach, and I was still more confused than ever. Were Nick and Brandon fighting? And if they were, what could they possibly be fighting about? I know that they live together, and sometimes it can be so tense to be on the road with someone and then see them all the time at home. But Nick and Brandon were best friends, and something about them not being on good terms didn't feel right to me.

"No yeah, I didn't want an opinion or anything," Emily said sarcastically. I had completely zoned out, and forgot that we were shopping. Emily's birthday was on Saturday. She thought I was taking her out to dinner, but in reality, me and Zion were pulling together a surprise party.

Emily was standing in front of me in a cute floral jumper, but it didn't scream "birthday girl" and she had to look her best for Zion's surprise.

"Sorry dude, I've been so out of it," I said, "that's cute, but like not cute enough."

Emily looked exasperated, "Bro what do you mean? It's just you and me going to dinner. I didn't wanna do anything like too big because I don't wanna stress the boys out, you know that!"

I rolled my eyes, smiling, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, but it's still your birthday! Let's just go look at some other stores before making a final decision. She sighed dramatically before turning back into the fitting room to change.

I couldn't help but keep thinking about me and Nick's moment. What was that? And was Brandon jealous? Because if Brandon was jealous then maybe he had feelings for me. The thought of Brandon not wanting me with someone else gave me butterflies. But so did the way Nick looked at me. Ugh. Why are boys so fucking confusing?

Emily stepped out in her normal clothes, handing the items she didn't want to the worker in the fitting room.

"I'm actually really excited for us to go out. I know everyone usually goes crazy for their 21st, but I'm okay with just hanging with some friends," Emily says. Little do you know, I thought.

"I wish the boys could come with us," I say dramatically, looking sideways at her to see her reaction. She looked down as we walked out the store and into another one. She lifted her head and opened her mouth to respond, but her eyes went wide before yanking me down behind some racks of clothes.

"Em, what are y-"

"SHHHHHH," she says with a finger over her lips. I peek over the racks to see two blondes across the store. I would know that blonde hair and tight tops anywhere. Ashlynn and Alexys. I groan and Emily yanks me back down.

"Shut up. I don't feel like fake catching up with them," she exclaims. Ashlynn and Alexys are friends of the boys. They act like they're better than everyone because they both have blonde hair and nice butts. They're never outwardly mean in front of the boys, so we've never had a reason to put them in their place. Not to mention that Ashlynn throws herself at Zion literally any chance she gets.

Emily peeks over the racks, checking to see if the coast was clear, before standing up straight, "That was a close one."

"I can't stand them. And I don't understand what the boys see in them," I say while aimlessly shuffling through clothes. Emily nods her head agreeing.

"Hey Em, do you think Nick is being suspicious recently?" I ask, looking up to make eye contact. Emily meets my eyes, a small smile forming. "Why do you ask?" she questions. I can tell she knows something, but I'm not sure what.

"I'm not really sure. We like had a moment at the beach when you and Zion left, and he was being really like sweet but it was different then normal," I explained.
