She made it this far in life. The fame, fortune, followers, she had it all. But it wasn't enough.
Some would say she's ungrateful, or that any reasonable person would be happy to be in her shoes, and as far as she came she thought that getting to this point in her life would make her happy too. But it didn't.
Her taunting past seemed to always weigh out the good that surrounded her. No matter what she did it followed her and she felt as if it would until the day she laid lifeless in a casket.
She was done lolling in her own pity party. She had no more tears left to cry. Her body was drained of all its energy and so was her mind.
She took one more swig from the bottle of Hennessy before letting her body slip into the water. The water rose under her silk night gown, engulfing her entire body as the silk robe she wore over it sprawled out as if it were a cape. Her hair went up as gravity pushed her body further down. This was her choice, and for the first time in a long time Esmeralda felt as if she was in control of something in her life. Even if it was ending it.
Maybe this was for the best, she thought. She'd no longer have to carry those burdens on her back. She'd no longer have to tip-toe through life. She's went through things that were to demeaning to speak on and she's done things that were too vile to acknowledge. She was done.
"Aye."
Water filled her nostrils as she let out one final breath. She was sinking, but she wasn't afraid. This felt right.
Maybe it was because she still hadn't gotten over the passing of her mother three years ago. Or it probably could've been the fact that her father was constantly trying to re-enter her life after she obtained this new found, fame and money. It could even be the pressure put on her to keep up with the harsh standards of being a celebrity. Esmeralda didn't know, but what she did know was that her body was numb to it all. She felt incapable of playing this game called life.
This decision was probably extremely selfish of her. She pondered over the thought for a while, before actually decided to go through with it. She thought about her sister, fans, and even the residents of this hotel tonight. But it's was time she did something for herself, and stopped living for other people, literally.
"Miss!"
She felt her chest caving in. And the once blue pool was slowly fading into black.
Kyndel dived into the pool, hoping to save the girl before it was too late. When he finally got to her, he picked her unconscious body up and laid her on the edge of the pool, before using his arms to push himself out as well.
He wasn't able to sleep, and assumed it was just pre-game anxiety. This was honestly the last thing he expected to find when he made the decision to go out for fresh air.
Her body look lifeless, but he didn't want to give up so easily. Kyndel lacked any real knowledge on CPR, but he'd watch countless movies, so it was still better than nothing.
"1...2...3...4...5!" He counted every time he pressed down on her chest, then pinched her nose to blow air into her mouth.
"1...2...3...4...5!" He did it again, but there was still nothing.
"1...2...3...4-" The sounds of her coughing filled his ears as the water came back up through her mouth.
Kyndel fell back on his palms from hovering over her. A breath of relief escaped through his lips before he went back to his worrying state.
"Are you alright? Do you need to go to the hospital?" You could tell how frightened he was in the way he spoke.
"No, I'm alright," she said while slowly getting up, "um thank you," she added only because she didn't want to admit that it was intentional. But in actuality she was pissed that he pulled her out. If only he had shown up a minute later, Esmeralda thought.
"Where are you going? You nearly died!" He semi-yelled as she turned her back to walk towards the door that led to the inside of the hotel.
"To bed," Kyndel was confused, how could a person be so calm in a situation like this he thought, but then it clicked.
"Did you mean to do this?" He asked lowly.
She stopped walking and turned around to face him, giving him sorrowful eyes. And in that moment he knew, but instead of pressing the situation he decided not to. He didn't know her and didn't have the right to give her his input on what to do with her life.
"Can I walk you to your room at least" it felt like the only thing he could do to make sure she was okay at that moment. Esmeralda simply nodded 'yes' in response.
When they entered the building, the cold air conditioning hit both of their bodies, that were cover in wet clothes sticking to them. It was a little past two in the morning, so the hallways were clear and they wouldn't have to deal with the odd stares from random strangers.
When they finally reached the elevator, Esmeralda pressed on the seventh floor. It felt like they were going up for hours, but that was probably because there was a lot of questionable tension between the two.
"What floor are you on?" She asked, her voice still extremely low.
"The thirteenth." She nodded to his response.
"W-would you mind not telling anyone about this?" Esmeralda spoke up again. The press would have a field day with this if they found out and she already had enough on her plate.
Kyndel was confused, he didn't know her or anybody she was associated with, so who could he possibly tell. But instead of questioning her, he went along with it, "of course."
She pressed the button to the thirteenth floor as soon as she heard the 'ding' and the elevator doors opened.
"I'll be fine, I can take it from here," she spoke while getting off the elevator. Kyndel gave her a questionable look, but said 'okay'. Because once again, he didn't know her, and didn't have the authority to pressure her.
When she finally arrived to her room door, she lightly knocked. Her key card was still inside the room, she honestly didn't think she'd ever use it again.
"Where were you and why are you soaked?" Ezra asked, while yawning, it was obvious that she'd just woken up.
"I went for some fresh air by the pool, and accidentally fell in!" Esmeralda spoke, faking the distraught.
Maybe it was the two-faced, Gemini in her, but she was always good at faking her emotions.
