☾ Autumn ☽

We sat at the dinner table in silence, the only sound was our forks hitting the plates.

"So Autumn, what did Michael and you do this evening?" my dad asks me.

"We watched Disney movies." I say.

"So no sexual intercorse?" my dad blurts out.

I gasp "Are you calling me a whore or..?"

"No, I just thought, the way your mother described him I didn't think he would be to trustworthy."

I sigh "I'm going up to my room."

I put my plate in the sink and made my way upstairs.

I flop on my bed, grunting loudly.

I walk into my bathroom and look under my sink.

They're gone. My blades are gone.

"Shit" I mutter.

I hear my phone buzz over on my bed.

I see a message from Michael.

"Hey loser you should come over, I need to ask you something."

"I'll be over in 10 minutes"

I grab my keys and head downstairs.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?" my mom asks me.

"I'll be back before 11, I promise."

I walk out of the door before she can react.

I jump in my car and head over to Michaels house.

I knock on his door and his mum answers.

"Hello Autumn, are you here for Michael?" she politely asks.

"Y-Yeah." I stutter.

"Michael! Autumns here!" she calls out.

He comes racing down the stairs and grabs my wrist and pulls me up to his room.

"Young love." his mum whispers.

"Okay so I have a really good idea!" Michael says excitedly.

"And what's that?" I giggle at his childlike behavior.

"So you know how friends have matching friendship bracelets?" he questions.

I nod my head slowly.

"Well since we're best friends forever I think we should have our own little 'Friendship charm' but not like a necklace or anything but something better, like a shirt!"

I laugh "Okay so what type of shirt?"

"Well thats why I texted you, I need help on what to call our little 'friend group'."

We suggest names back and forth but nothing really grabs our attention.

Michael gasps "How about 'Rejects'?"

"I don't like it, I love it." I smile.

"So how will this correspond to the shirt?" I ask.

Michael walks over to his closet and thinks for a moment before pulling out two flannels.

He grabs some fabric paint and paint brushes and lays the two shirts on the floor.

He paints "Reject" messily on the back of both of them.

He stands up and admires his work.

"When I saw you at the coffee shop I knew that you've been through hell, believe me or not so have I, and that's what makes us different, we're rejects." He says walking over to me.

He sits next to me on his bed and I put my head on his shoulder.

"Welcome to the island of misfit toys." He says lacing his fingers through mine.
