zion sat staring at the clock. he was in his third period class alone. sadly his best friend nick, nor his girlfriend naomi were in this class. not even anyone on the football team was in it.
it was the type of class where the teacher would give you some assignment and you could do it then and get it over with,or you could choose to go on your phone but have to do the assignment later for homework. zion typically choose the first option because then it gave him more free time once he was back home. except on this particular day he got a snapchat.
the notification was from brandon, but when zion looked at it instead of it being a normal blue box it was red meaning it was a picture and not a message. he hesitantly opened the picture. it was a normal picture of brandon sitting in class and it read "you gonna send the addy or ??".

zion laughed at the younger boys question. for some reason he thought that brandon wouldn't show up to the party, but obviously he was wrong. zion responded with "duhh, open the chat".

seconds later zion messaged him the address.
"mr. kuwonu, it seems that your head has been trapped in your phone this period"
zion laughed nervously praying that his teacher, Mrs. Smith, wouldn't take away his phone.
"yea, sorry about that i was just texting my mom" right before zion could finish his sentence, brandon responded. that meant that zion got two notifications, one saying that brandon was typing and then another saying that he received a message. both notifications were out in the open for him and Mrs. Smith to see.
"well zion, i never knew that your mother's name was brandon. i must have mistaken her for your one friend mandy."
zion knew he was gonna be in trouble, but he needed to find a way out of it.
"Mrs. Smith, you know that i'm not the only person on their phone right?"
"of course i know zion. I could care less about what the are doing. but with you it's a different story."
"i just don't understand why everyone else can be on their phone and i can't."
"zion, everyone else can be on their phone because they aren't failing. i just want you to stay focused. which you have been doing most recently, and i'm proud of you for that but i can't have you fall off track."
that is exactly where zion thought that conversation would lead. he ended up having to give her his phone until the end of the period.
*TIME SKIP (LUNCH)*
finally, it was lunch. zion could see his friends and of course his girlfriend who he hadn't seen all morning. he entered the cafeteria and went straight to his normal table that consisted of nick, naomi, a few of his closest friends on the football team, and this one kid austin who was funny so they let him sit at their table. austin and nick we already there sitting across from each other. zion wanted to sit on the side where he could see the cafeteria entrance so he ended up sitting next to nick. they talked for a while until zion remembered about brandon. he didn't want it to seem like he ghosted him that quickly so he decided to snap him back.
"who you snapping?" nick asked.
"just this kid. i invited him to the party so im just giving him the details." zion lied. the two boys had already talked about the party and now we're just chatting but he didn't feel like saying all of that.
"oh okay, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a girl cause here comes naomi"
zion looked up from his phone and gave a bright smile to his beautiful girlfriend.
"hey baby" naomi said as walked towards zion to sit next to him.
"wassup babe" he engulfed her in a tight hug and she squeezed back.
"are y'all excited for this party?" naomi asked the group. they all responded with cheers and "yea".
"i know i am" she responded with a smirk. zion took notice to her smirk and was a little thrown off by it.
"you're that excited babe?" he asked her while pointing to her smirk.
"yup!" she exclaimed. "i invited a new friend." her smirk grew wider and almost had a joker vibe. zion didn't know what else to do but ignore it. his girlfriend was always a little weird sometimes.

a/n// whats up yall. since the last chapter the reads have gone up and even though there's not a lot of you, i still want to thank you for reading!! i also wanted to tell you that on sunday i'm going to sleepaway camp so that means i won't have service for two weeks. im gonna post tomorrow night and ill try to post something sunday morning before i leave but after that this book will be on hold until *AUGUST 17TH*.
