All Castiel ever wanted was for Dean Winchester to notice him. It couldn't really be that hard could it? Well, apparently it was. Dean always had girls practically hanging off his arm as he walked into school everyday. As far as Cas knew, Dean was as straight as a board. Cas, well not so much. He had had one other relationship with another guy; that hadn't ended so well for either of them. It turned out that the other guy thought he was gay, but he got drunk and kissed a girl, and boom! He was straight.
Cas loved to look at Dean. He was perfect in Cas' eyes.
Dean was a strong 6' 1" muscular guy with dirty blonde hair and electric green eyes that could fry a chicken if you looked directly at them. He had an amazing car - a black 1967 Chevrolet Impala. Dean also had a younger brother named Sam. Sam was super smart, and quite tall, to be honest.
***********
Monday at school, Dean waltzed into homeroom with Hannah and Anna following on his heels as usual. It wasn't that he minded it, it was just that, he wasn't into those girls. Or any girls, for that matter. But, no one knew about Dean, thankfully. It was best he kept it that way.
As soon as Dean entered the room, his eyes immediately went to Castiel's seat. They went there every morning, and only sometimes did Cas look up and lock gazes with Dean. Dean wanted so badly to go and talk to Cas, but there was no way for him to do it without all Hell breaking loose.
And to make matters worse, Cas was straight. As far as Dean knew, that is.
But today, Dean noticed that Cas wasn't in his usual seat. That's odd, Dean thought. But, he went along with it anyways. Surely, he would show up later. It wasn't like Cas cared about Dean anyways.
Dean went about his day like he usually did, from class to class, occasionally stopping at his locker to grab something or check for notes. On his way home in the Impala, he got a call from his brother, Sam.
"Shit," Dean said aloud. He forgot Sammy some meeting at school and needed Dean to wait for him. Sam was the top of his class already and only a freshman. He was in countless clubs and was loved by all of his teachers.
As Dean pulled up to the school to wait in the parking lot, he saw a figure walking near the bleachers by the football field. It looked like they were carrying something heavy. Dean stepped out of his car and slowly walked over to the figure.
It was Castiel. He was carrying his backpack in his arms.
"Uh, h-hey, Cas. Whatcha got there?" Dean questioned warily. "Do you need any help?"
Cas looked up slowly. He had bruises under his eyes and the ghost of a bloody nose. "Nah," Cas chuckled. "I got it. Don't worry."
"Alright, if you say so," sighed Dean. "But at least let me give you a ride home. I think it's about to rain."
"Fine. But as soon as you drop me off, none of this happened."
Dean texted Sam to tell him that he would have to find another ride home, or at least to a friend's house. He wasn't sure how far it was to Castiel's house, but he was excited to have him there.
"So, uh, Cas. Is it alright if I call you that? What happened today? You weren't at school this morning, and then I pick you up outside the school and you have bruises under your eyes and a bloody nose," Dean hoped he didn't sound too worried or anxious.
"Yeah, it's okay if you call me Cas. And tell me something Dean, why would you, the guy every girl is head-over-heels in love with, pick up Castiel Novak, the guy who nobody talks to, on a random Monday? We have never talked before 5 minutes ago, and now you're giving me a ride to my humble abode. Answer me that, Dean." Castiel was slowly straightening up as his voice rose.
"Well, Cas, do you really want to know?" Dean said questioningly.
"If I hadn't made myself clear, Dean, yes I do want to know," Cas replied hastily.
Dean's Impala came to an abrupt stop about a mile and a half from Cas' house. Before Dean could rethink what he was doing, his lips crashed into Cas'. At first, Cas tensed up, slowly raising his hands as if to push Dean away. Eventually Cas melted into the kiss, deepening it even further, and put his arms around Dean's neck.
