Chapter 1

Kankri lightly rapped his knuckles on The Ampora apartments door. He had come to return a pencil he'd borrowed. They were both juniors in high school. He held his posture straight and professional, but he really used the pencil as an excuse to Come see Cronus' home. He was always concerned about his home life, but didn't want to pry.

A crack of glass shattering. "Answer the door god dammit-" Cronus grunted as he slammed into the door and then opened it. He saw Kankri and a lazy smile crossed his face. "Hey, doll. Whatcha need?"

Kankri looked concerned. "Cronus..what happened to your eye?"

"Aww this?" He reached up and touched his black eye gingerly. "Dumbass me smacked into the bathroom cabinet."

Kankri looked concerned. "WHO IS IT?" Dual yelled.

"It's Kankri!" Cronus yelled back. "What didja need, chief?" He was a bit rushed now.

A rogue beet bottle flew at them and barley missed Kankri. Kankri made a noise and stepped back as Cronus winced and jumped away from it. Kankri teared up and ran away, his eyes wide like a deer's. Cronus closed the door and slid down it, then jumped up and ran over to push Eridan behind him.

"I'm going over to Sol's. He's really Drunk Tonight. If you don't have a place to stay-"

"I-I can handle him. Go somewhere safe. I love you." He pecked Eridan's cheek and blocked him from Dualscar as his brother sped out of there.

"SON!! BRING YER PA ANOTHER BEER!" Cronus grabbed another beer and went to give it to Dual. "N-Need anything else..?"

He threw a bottle at Cronus. It hit him right in the head. "You're a DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!"

Cronus backed into the wall, his breath hitching. "Y-Yessir.." He reached up to gently touch the place where his head had cut open. The same knuckles were at the door again, but this time they were rushed and frantic. Cronus sunk down and ran over to the door. He opened it, the crimson blood dripping off his chin with his tears.

"Kankri.. Please don't tell anyone.." Kankri pulled him out and shut the door.

"Cronus...."

Cronus was shaking almost violently. "PLEASE.."

Kankri pulled him Into a hug. Cronus tensed up and started crying into Kankri's neck. "I'm going to take you Home and get you cleaned up. Alright?"

"No- no please-" He pulled away and backed into the door. Kankri grabbed his wrist.

"Cronus. Please! Your brothers at my cousins house staying safe. So Should you!"

Cronus yanked his hand away. "I'M FUCKING FINE! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Kankri fell back against the hallway wall. He stared at Cronus. "I've been so worried about you...you've stopped eating at school....you're failing all your classes..." He stood up and started to walk away. "I just wanted to show how much I love you by helping you..."

Cronus slid down the wall and started crying into his arms. He used to be cocky and confident, but after Condesce filed for a divorce, Dualscar had started drinking. A minute later Kankri had his arms around Cronus again. Cronus didn't pull away. He slid his arms around Kankri's neck and sobbed softly. "I need you to stay safe....okay? Will you come with me, for Eridan?" He whispered. He sniffled and nodded.

"Y-Yeah... Okay..."
