Chapter 5

Cronus jumped and fell out of the bed. "FACK-"

Kankri hid his head in his knees and shook roughly. Cronus got up and went to sit beside Kankri. "Baby.."

Kankri hugged him close. "I dreamt I hadn't saved you and..your dad killed you..."

Cronus rocked back and forth. "Well you did save me and he didn't kill me."

Kankri pulled off. "I need to go to work...." He whispered. Lies.

"It's three in the morning, sweetheart.."

He grabbed Cronus' cigarettes. Kankri didn't smoke. "I'm working early."

"... Kankri... Can you please stay with me..."

"God fucking dammit I just want to smoke a cigarette!!" He cried out. Cronus winced at the sudden loudness and scooted back against the wall.

Kankri softened. "Fuck the landlord." He lit two cigarettes and handed one to Cronus. "I'm sorry..."

Cronus took it and took a long drag. "...Kankri, PLEASE don't smoke... I don't want you to start... I fell in love with the pure boy who cursed anything remotely sinful.."

Kankri held the cigarette. "It helps you.....I need helpNow too..."

"...I do it in hopes I get lung cancer and die..."

Kankri put out the cigarette and wrapped himself in a blanket. Cronus scooted closer and pulled Kankri into a hug.

"Let's...lets play hookie today and go over to dad's. We can hang out in our room there and watch old movies." Kankri mumbled into Cronus' neck. Rain had began to fall outside.

"Rodger that." Cronus sat up and stretched.

Suddenly the doorbell rang. Kankri stood up. "I'll get it."

Cronus lied back on the bed and put his cigarette out. Kankri came back In, locked the door behind him, shut the blinds, then curled up next to Cronus.

"Baby?" Cronus looked down and pulled him closer.

"There was a jailbreak. He's at large."

Cronus went dead silent. He lied down, burying his face in Kankri's neck. He texted Eridan.

Cronus: don't leave your house
Cronus: i'll come to you if i can
Eridan: They're sendin me and Sol away. You're comin with us.

"Cronus?"

Cronus went pale.

Cronus: i can't leave kankri.
Eridan: Please come with us...
Cronus: i can't leave kankri.

Kankri grabs his phone. He reads it, typesAnd sends something, then hands it back. Cronus read what he sent.

Cronus: This is Kankri. Cronuswill be accompanying you.

"I'm not going, Kankri."

Kankri grabbed his hand. "Yes. You are."Cronus yanked it away. "No, I'm not."

"I'll b-be alright. You and Eridan need to s-stay safe."

"I'm NOT going."

Kankri grabbed Cronus' phone again and started typing. Cronus stood up and left the room.

Cronus: Cronus is coming with you. So am I.

Kankri dropped the phone on the bed and followed him. "Cronus..."

Cronus had stationed himself outside, smoking a cigarette and staring off the edge of the balcony.

"I'm going with you. Okay? We both don't want to be without each other."

Cronus dropped his cigarette from jumping. "...Thank you..."

Kankri laced his fingers with Cronus' as the rain fell around them. "There's no place I'd rather be."Cronus smiled warmly and pulled Kankri into him. "You've done so much for me these past few months. I'm back on my feet, I'm confident and cool, and I love myself. granted, I have my moments, but they're short."

"I owe you. You were the one who stopped me from killing myself when my mother died."
