"When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too."
- Paulo Coelho,New dawn.
Waking up (y/n) yawns, stretched and raised in the early morning of dawn. You raised yourself, Morning came and so did evening and soon nightfall where stars dazzled, the birds of the night flew and roamed with the moon in its phases and soft light spread around on the ground. Cities where (y/n) lived blew up in lights of white or golden yellow, orange and sometimes depending on the distance, red and green, blue and neon colors of human activity and life manufacturer of pure evolution. You, like many other people and many other feet walk like so many feet in the lit-up path of a thousand torches, (y/n) walk down the street in a fast haste, in the Springfield Harbor you enter the almighty famous restaurant called the Krusty Burger where you rushed in, checked in and dressed in the bathroom into your work uniform. Sighing, a breath of exhaustion you get to work and tend to customers through midnight. You had the melodies of words and orders in your mind, every food item memorized: Krusty Burger, Double Krusty Burger, Deep Fried Krusty Burger. Oh, would you like Krusty fries with that? Meat-Flavoured Sandwich now don't forget the Ribwich or The Clogger and tell them that the Gravy Scrapems is out of order and the ice cream machine too. That is what (y/n) can recall but as far as you and the chef know, he never liked (y/n), never liked your smile, your knowledge, and routine spat at your jokes and treated you like you were scum and him, him a king. You were never too keen on trying to impress or have a try at getting along with him. With your head up in the air, you had no care for arrogant people.
"Are you going to be quicker giving out orders?" the chef asked rudely and (y/n) rolled your eyes, grabbing the dish and placing it down at a table, smiling at the customer.
"Enjoy your dish, sir," you said kindly as possible, getting a tip you didn't notice because of your eyes on a man that created it all, the restaurant, your job the relation of your chef. Him, Krusty the clown and also known as Herschel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofsky. (y/n) gaze at him with big eyes, filled with sparkle and glitter as they did when you saw him on TV. Anxious, angry, nervous and sad, with mixed emotions you become glued to the ground until you glance at the table next to you, they glared at you and you hinted you were standing there a bit too long for comfort so you took little steps, almost like every step reverted you one year back. Each step closer and your heart skipped a beat, two more and your mind skips around and reminds you why exactly you do your job; because you were inspired by the clown, you wanted to spread love and happiness to people and kids. You watch the man sit at a table near the window that showed you a great view of the dock, you watch him grab out a think cigarette, light it up and for minute you froze, (y/n) heard him swear under his breath and finally his lips wrap around the cigar and suck in the rich tobacco. Smoke escapes the clown's mouth, his face resting and eyelids half-open, his eyes were numb, looking dazedly in one position. Cyan hair messy, his afro down almost how a puppy would lay his sad ears flat on his head. His bright blue bow untied with his buttons undid in on his pink shirt. He was exhausted, so exhausted. Off-screen, he was a manic-depressive, chain-smoking gambler, an alcoholic man from the stress of his job, a man addicted to inhaling moon rocks just to get him back to his normal self, he was a lost man, his life shrouded by humiliation, being laughed at. An exhausted, tired man contrasted with two personalities. Soon, you see it, you see him, the man you saw on stage but never off... You were exhausted, (y/n) were exhausted but you just blink and smile wide, you are his biggest fan and your smile wide.
"Hi! I'm (y/n) welcome to Krusty Burger-!"
"Yeah! Yeah! I know" scolds Krusty, yelling at her with a cigarette in between his hands as he waves it around, the smoke dancing from left to right. (y/n) felt disappointed, everything you felt and thought broke down, the words from your chef get into you and you frown and for a moment your eyes dwell with tears but you blink it away and nodded, looking at the clipboard that you wrote on.
"Wh-what can I get you, sir?" (y/n) asked, swallowing hard as your face pouts, pushing everything down that broke like little shards of a broken plate."Surprise" the man whispers under his breath, looking out the window, avoiding (y/n) face, your face. You nod and leave, hasting to the kitchen with the one thought that was itself shrouded with humiliation.
What would HE want?
Time is an illusion, our naive perception takes hold of us, its flows do not correspond to physical reality and The Order of Time much more is illusory a universally ticking clock. Time slows down maybe speeds up but depending on how fast you move, how conscious you are relative towards something, approaching the speed of life, you found yourself gazing in the of the kitchen at a clock, tick tick tick. Time moves on and soon dawn returns once you return home and sleep at the end of midnight. Time was slow and you blink and suddenly (y/n) was conscious again, time went on. Working hours were done but you didn't want to leave oddly enough because the Chef was on you all night with comments you've grown to ignore. Blink again and you realized you were staring at your hero sits in the corner of the room, smoking and drinking laughing to himself and hardly eating a single thing that you left. (y/n) checks out and changed into your formal attire and pack up. He took in a breath, adjusted yourself and approaches your hero with your bag around your shoulder and your beating heartbroken.
"Did you enjoy your night sir?" You asked, (y/n)'s voice flat and saddened, nothing changed when Krusty looked at you. Krusty sat back and puts out his cigarette on the white dish plate that held a half-eaten burger, fries, and crumbs.
"Not at all... food was shit... " The clown mumbled, glaring at you, in your (e/c) eyes. You felt even more of a weight on you but it disappears when he said... "But it wasn't you, you didn't ruin it... that chef in their... he's shit, I could hear his bullshit from here... Do you cook?" he asked, you nod and furrow your eyebrows.
"Sometimes.." (y/n) mumbled.
"You good at it?" Krusty asked and you nod once more. Krusty looks around at the empty restaurant and nodded to the kitchen. "Make me something, if that prick says no, tell him to come here and cook me something, bring it here" ordered Krusty but you didn't nod, you looked at the restaurant and felt a bowl drop in your guts when yours glance with the chefs then at Krusty's.
"Why?" you mutter out softly and he smirked with a twinkle in his eyes.
"You'll see," he said and made a laugh. Krusty watched you leave, he dealt with the chef and he left, throwing his hat on the floor, marching out with shouts, you took a breath in and out and cooked a simple Krusty Burger. You placed it on a plate and return to Krusty, picking up the hate the chef drops. (Y/n) placed the hat down, you brushed your (h/c) back and watched Krusty ate the burger, hands clutched tight on the white, cotton hat. Once Krusty was done, he grabbed the napkin supplied earlier and wiped his hands nodding.
"You want a promotion to head chef?" he asked suddenly, looking up at you, into your eyes there was something, but you couldn't figure it out. Krusty beforehand noticed how stressed you are, taking multiple orders, handling the whole restaurant, giving people their food, he watched as took in abusive complaints and was impressed that you carried on, keeping strong like he couldn't do, he saw potential in you and it soon did you realize that he fired the chef, you realized that he, the creator of Krusty Burgers loved your cooking and is offering you to make the food. You made a silent gasp as he stood up.
"I can't accept but,... I would be grateful for a new crew in the restaurant" (Y/N) spoke and you smiled. You couldn't handle the facts you realized. Krusty sighs and groans with a nod.
"Yeah... I can do that" he mumbled, looking away. You smiled wide, your heart skipped a beat, you rekindle your previous feelings and pressed your lips on the clowns, pale skin. You pulled away, blushing.
"Thank you..." you whisper, tears in your eyes, one slipped down. A light in our dark, new dawn. A tingle of pleasure when he caressed your cheek and wiped the tear away.
New dawn.
