Chapter Four: Identify
Dune Quinn Reporting for Duty
“So that went swell meeting that fine gem Avery Nickels.” I told Corbin as I stretched my muscles. Corbin grunted and didn’t reply as he continued to pack up the Rosco for delivery. “I’m sure soon enough I’ll have her playing my game and I can have some fun with her.” I smiled to myself thinking about how I would twist her pretty little blonde more of a brown hair around my pinkie until I had had enough of her.
“From what I saw after you left at lunch, you’re going to need some serious luck with that.” Corbin said, standing back up only to grab a box of apple juice and put it into the back of the Rosco. “And I told you to not get involved with her. Do you seriously want to get killed? Because that’s what will happen if you get involved with her and try to know more about her.” Corbin scoffed. I laughed and handed him the next thing for packing, a box of cheetos.
“Why can you be involved with her and I can’t? And what’s so bad about learning her past that’ll get me killed, some family secret?” I asked. Corbin slammed the Rosco’s trunk and turned around to face me, a threat in his eyes.
“You don’t listen do you? Besides a man’s already got his eyes on Avery, and Stark Welt is a rough, honest good man so don’t get in his way of his love life with Avery. Just step back and let him have his girl. For once. And why yes it is a family secret and I’ll never tell you because it could jeopardize Avery’s well being if I told you. Why can I be involved with her? Simple because I’m not trying to get into her pants, I’m just a friend.” Corbin told me. I was puzzled by what he meant by jeopardizing Avery’s well being if I knew her family’s secret.
“I didn’t saw I was trying to get into her pants, no I want to be friends with benefits first. And who the hell is this Stark Welt anyways?” I asked. Corbin sighed and about to go back to the Rosco when he noticed something, I turned around to see this tall guy, the exact same height as me. Like me he was very muscular but he didn’t have scars on him. His eyes were a light blue that seemed like they stared into your very soul he also had messy thick curly hair that sat on top of his head.
“That would be me.” The man said as he neared me, staring right at me as he crossed his arms. I raised an eyebrow at him. Who did he think he was my superior?
“And who exactly are you?” I asked. The man laughed and then looked back at me as if I was an idiot.
“The exact man you had just been asking Corbin about. I am Stark Welt.” Stark said. I could almost laugh. This dude who thought he was all that was the man that everyone backed away from and let him have Avery? Out of all the things I’ve seen in my life, this was the most pathetic thing of all.
“Pfft you’re what? The student council president, is that why you think you’re all that?” I asked. Stark glared at me but didn’t make a move to touch me.
“I may not be the student council president but I warn you, if you ever dare think of touching, or going near Avery again I will hunt you down and kill you. Are we clear here?” Stark asked me. I laughed and turned around to hop into the Rosco.
“Whatever dude, you seriously have problems. And I’d work fast to get Avery because if you don’t, I’ll take her and use her my way. Then again even if you do get her, I just may still go after her.” I said a hint of mockery in my voice. Stark came to the front door, but it was too late I started up the Rosco and flew away from him, laughing at the look on his face. I always got my way and he better learn that.
