Btw, the girl above is Ayda. *0*

Ah, the sunset.

A magical phenomenon, it is.

The time of the day where the beautiful golden rays of light shine down onto the surface land, gracing the various beings that roam it with one last glimpse of warmth before continuing its journey to awake the other side of the world.

It's that time when plants stretch towards the last of sunshine, trying to grasp as much energy as possible before they're forced into a sleepless slumber where their only pass-time is photosynthesis.

It's that time when humans and animals alike start heading home, going to the place where they can seek warmth and comfort from the ever growing cold and darkness.

It's that time when procrastinating teenagers begrudgingly start their homework, not wanting to miss out on too much sleep, nor wanting to hear their parents nagging at them constantly.

It's that time when one can go out on their porch to bathe in the fading warmth of the close star and relax while enjoying the misty colors of the sky.

However, this wasn't the case for Shin Ayda.

Ayda had just finished her last day of school before spring break and was now in the park with her childhood best friends, Mingyu and Hayoon.

She was sitting in the tree swing. Looking out at the scenery, she smiled when she saw a couple sitting not too far from her left. A guy was enjoying the scenery, only to turn to be met with a scoop of ice cream in the face. He glared at his boyfriend who took the chance to snap a photo of him, thinking he looked cute. Just as the guy was about to yell at him, his boyfriend cut him off with a peck and they both ended up laughing and reveling in the sunset.

Wishing for love like that one day for herself, Ayda decided to focus her sights on her best friends.

They were currently having a heated debate on who would have the last chocolate croissant.

//////......\\\\\\

Ten minutes later, she was watching the idiots she called friends wrestle for the last chocolate croissant rather childishly. Hayoon seemed to be winning, from what Ayda could tell.

Deciding this was a good chance to get back at Mingyu for eating her pasta the other day, she pulled out her phone and recorded the finishing bits of the battle. All of which included him running towards Hayoon while yelling like a dying whale only to trip over air after three clumsy steps. This resulted in Mingyu pitifully falling face first onto the grass, getting a mouthful of dandelion. Taking this chance to steal the confection, Hayoon sprinted towards the picnic basket and triumphantly shoved the croissant into her mouth, gloating at Mingyu all the while.

In the background, Mingyu can be seen yelling something along the lines of, "This bitch!" while flipping her the bird. Wait, is that dandelion fluff in his hands? What- oh, that's never gonna get out of Hayoon's hair. Poor soul.

While having to physically restrain herself from laughing too hard as to avoid falling off the swing, Ayda saved the video. I'm definitely never gonna let him live this down, Ayda thought, referring to Mingyu's chagrin inducing face plant. I might even show all of his basketball team-

She wasn't able to finish that thought because out of nowhere, an explosion threw her off of her swing and into the bundle of bushes to the side.

//////......\\\\\\

Disoriented and frantic, she got up and immediately started scanning the area for her friends.

With each second ticking by without a glimpse of her companions, the more desperate she became.

After a while, she finally found Mingyu clutching the picnic basket behind a huge oak tree with Hayoon inside the trunk of the tree.

"Hey, you guys go home okay? I'll meet up with you guys as soon as I can," Ayda said.

Knowing the reason why Ayda was staying, they left after giving her worried and concerned looks.

"It's okay. I'll be fine. Now get your asses home before I have to kick them all they way there myself," Ayda threatened.

//////......\\\\\\

After making sure her friends were nowhere near the soon-to-be battlefield, Ayda made her way towards the origin of the explosion.

There, waiting for her, was a dark entity. One with long, skinny arms and a faceless head, the only feature present being a set of jagged, pointed teeth. The mouth smiled as the creature started stalking towards the girl.

"Oh, how I've waited to finally be able to practice," Ayda smirked, surprising the creature.

Before it could respond, a flash of light flooded the meadow and then all hell broke loose.
