Greed opened his eyes slowly. He... had a really strange dream... something about cereal.

He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat up. The vampires had returned to the city last night, and they were all beat from the long train ride home. He turned to look at his clock on his bedstand.

4:00AM.

Greed pushed his blanket off and scratched his head. He assumed no one would be awake at the moment, so maybe a glass of water would be enough. He stretched and lifted himself off the bed.

Groggily, Greed walked to the kitchen to get a glass from the countertop. It was dark, but he could still make out certain things with the faint lights from the kitchen appliances. He began pouring himself water when he heard a loud crashing sound.

He jumped a bit, spilling some water on the floor. "That sounded like glass breaking..." Greed stated to himself quietly. "...From Val's room?"

Greed made his way over to the hallway, and stopped when he saw a familiar figure standing at a doorway. Valentino was leaning on his door, breathing heavily. He looked... upset. His normally neat and tidy hair was messy, and his clothing a bit more wrinkled than usual. This wasn't the same type of angry Greed had usually seen, it wasn't the aggression he would show towards Greed when he used his card without his permission. He was... angry.

"Uh, Val—"

"What?!" Val snapped, looking up at Greed.

"..."

"...Oh. It's just you," Val said, his usual calm voice returning. "Sorry."

Val sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I didn't mean to snap at you, goodnight."

As Valentino returned into his room, Greed peeked into Valentino's room to see what all the commotion was about. Valentino's room was tidy as usual, with the exception of a broken glass by the wall.

Valentino sat down at his desk with a sigh and began typing quickly on his laptop.

Greed didn't know what exactly Valentino did for work, but tonight must've been extremely stressful, especially if it was enough to make him throw a glass at the wall.

The next morning, Greed was greeted with an exhausted looking Valentino. He didn't look like he had a small fit last night. His hair was tidy, and he wore an expensive, clean suit. The only thing that seemed a bit different was his eyes. The bags under his eyes seemed darker and heavier than they normally were.

"Val..." Greed called out. "Have... have you slept?"

Val turned to Greed and chuckled.

"It's not like you to care about my well being," he started. "Anyway, I'm heading to work, don't cause trouble while I'm gone or you're going to end up like that glass from last night."

Then, he turned and left.

Greed stared at the door for a moment. Why did he not call him out as aggressively like he usually would?

-

The next week, Greed couldn't get Val's... breakdown (?) off of his mind. It was unlike him. Or rather, Val never showed that side to Greed or anyone in the dorms. It hadn't happened in quite some time, and Val was back to his usual 'take my credit card and I will end you' attitude. It still bothered Greed a bit more than he wanted it to, though. He was curious but also... something else. He couldn't pinpoint what he felt, but it certainly wasn't positive.
