haha just kidding....... unless?

When Val said "I'm going on a business trip," this was not what he was envisioning. He looked up at his summer home, and at his luggage. His summer home was upstate, and he usually went for vacation with his brother or for business purposes. Except... he had a bit more... "luggage" than he wanted. Val turned to look behind him.
Standing behind him with their own bags was a large group of vampires. And one human. Greed dragged himself along, and it seems he had invited some of his friends as well, who in turn invited their own. The rat came on his own and dragged the human with him. Cas, Kat, Car, and Lily came to make sure "the boys don't play rough". Val turned back to his front door and sighed, ignoring the conversations occurring behind him, catching a few 'Greed told me he has a big pool here's, and 'When Greed said huge he meant HUGE's.
He unlocked the door and opened it, and the moment the door was opened, vampires flooded in as if it were their own hotel room. Lawrence stared at Val, who was standing at the doorway, looking at his "guests" with tired eyes.
"I was dragged along, I'm sorry to intrude," Lawrence stated, frowning.
"It's fine, just... make yourself comfortable."
-
For the morning Val had made breakfast for the large group with the help of Sachiel and Lawrence, (and let's not forget his own brother's recipe!) It was a lot of work, but with three pairs of hands on the job, it was easier to provide for so many people. Val counted who his guests were in his mind. Greed, Lily, Cas, Car, Kat, Lawrence, rat, Damien, and Sachiel. Luckily the home was always stockpiled with fresh ingredients and utensils for large numbers of people, despite Val's own family not being very large.
After making breakfast and serving it to his guests he decided to text his brother to see how he was doing and that he used his recipes for the unexpected guests. They chatted a bit about the guests, and his brother seemed truly happy that Val had people over.
Luca, I literally did not invite them.
I know, I know, but you'll be less lonely with so many people around you!
Val sighed and turned his phone off. He should go join the others for breakfast.
-
After breakfast he and Lawrence has done the dishes together in awkward silence. This was perhaps his way of apologizing for intruding so suddenly.
"You can find a room to stay in if you'd like," Val suggested. "I can finish these on my own."
Lawrence simply nodded and left to unpack his suitcase.
-
During the afternoon, the vampires thought it would be a great idea to play around in Val's backyard and have a pool party. Once again Val was tasked with feeding them. If Lawrence or Sachiel hadn't helped, he probably would've lost his mind. For lunch Damien decided to help as well because "pool parties aren't really my thing". Val didn't mind cooking, he wasn't the best chef ever, but he was certainly better than average and didn't really mind feeding people things he made. The vampires ate happily and resumed their unplanned pool party. Lawrence, Damien, and Val didn't swim and watched on the sidelines. Sachiel went to go join the group after eating lunch.
Val began calculating how much he had to pay for pool cleaning when they all had to go back home.
-
In the evening, the group wandered around, chatting with one another while, once again, Val and Lawrence were making dinner. This time Sachiel couldn't help, since he still had things he needed to unpack. Val's vacation home had never been this lively, and it honestly felt so out of place to him. During this entire day, Lawrence and Valentino barely spoke a word to each other, just a few questions and "can you pass the frying pan". When they were finished cooking, Lawrence gathered the vampires to the large dining table and Val placed dishes all over the table. Kat's eyes shimmered. "You're handsome, AND you can cook, G's so lucky."
"Haha, right? I have the best daddy anyone could ask for~" Greed bragged. Val glared at his direction as a response.
"Padre, why don't you treat me like that?" The rat asks, looking at Lawrence, whose eyebrows lowered as an answer to his question.
Dinner was extremely loud, it was like a large family gathering, and Val was extremely tired and could not handle such a large amount of people. When the entire group had finished their dinner, Greed suddenly stood up. "The hell are you doing? I know you're all sorts of fucked up but now you just look crazy," Damien frowned, looking at the standing Greed. "I have a proposal~"
Oh no.
Val placed his head in his hands.
All the vampires (and one human) turned their attention to Greed.
"Instead of sleeping in the guest rooms, we should clear out the furniture in the living room and make one big sleeping room!"
"I vote yes!" Car exclaimed, despite there being no vote. Even if there was one, Val and Damien's votes would most likely just be ignored. "Alright, sounds like a plan," Greed smirked.
-
Val looked at the sight before him. His once beautiful and spacious living room looked like one large mattress. All tables and chairs were moved aside except one couch, where Lily said she would sleep. She didn't want to sleep on the floor with a bunch of dudes.
Greed clapped his hands. "Looks good folks! Now let's get dressed and brush our teeth!"
Most of the group stormed away to the multiple bathrooms throughout the home. Val, Lawrence, Damien, and Lily stared awkwardly at each other, eventually dispersing.
-
Once the group was dressed and ready, they made pillow forts and had pillow fights. The pillow war seemed to go on for ages, and Val was lying down on the far corner of the floor mattress by the wall. He did not want to partake in the fight. Damien played for a bit, but eventually fell asleep as a means to escape the group. Lawrence just sat there, the rat repeatedly hitting him with a pillow. Val could hear a faint "Come on, padre it'll be fuuun!" from their direction.
Why now?
-
The fighting had died down, and everyone had fallen asleep. Lily was sleeping snugly on the couch next to Car, who suggested sleeping next to her so "men don't attack her". The rat was sleeping on top of Lawrence. Literally. Lawrence looked like a mattress, and he looked so uncomfortable. Cas and Kat were holding hands on their own space, fast asleep. Damien and Sachiel slept next to each other, but always seemed to have at least 3 feet of distance between them. Strange.
Greed slept towards the center.
Greed opened his eyes suddenly and sat up. His breathing was heavy and he looked around. "Right... I was here..." he muttered, bringing his hand to his forehead. He had that dream again.
"Maybe I should get some water," he said to himself, slowly standing up. He carefully walked over the sleeping vampires and headed for the kitchen. He was shaky and sweaty and felt incredibly ill. The kitchen was dark but the smart-fridge glowed just enough for him to navigate through the kitchen. He poured himself a glass of water and chugged it down quickly. He was so tired.
He slid down to the floor and sat down, holding his knees to his chest.
-
Greed opened his eyes once again.
"Where...?"
He felt warm and heavy, as if he were wrapped in velvet. He took a short breath and opened one eye. It still wasn't daytime, and the other vampires were asleep. How much time had passed? Last thing he remembered he was sitting on the kitchen floor, how had he ended back in the living room? He sat up slowly and let his eyes adjust to the dark a bit more. Greed sighed.
At that moment something familiar caught in his nose. Fragrance and a bit of cigarette smell. He looked to his left. Val was sleeping there, about two feet away from Greed. He was facing away from Greed, so Greed could only see the back of his head.
Ah...
That's what happened.
