"Sorry" was recorded by Halsey once. She was on an interview and said that she had gotten a text from an ex-lover and she realized she kinda 'faded away' from the relationship. She then went to the studio and recorded "Sorry." It was one session and she didn't 'play around' with the song or record it multiple times. It was a 'one mic, one take'

"Sorry" is an apology to all of the lovers Halsey had left behind, hurt, or "faded away" from. Halsey said that she thinks she always screws up relationships and that she hurts her ex-lovers so this is an apology to them and others who admire her.
