Third person POV
The week went by pretty quickly for both boys. Jungkook spent most of his time drawing and selling his art online, hoping to earn enough money to buy a new set of water colors that were just too damn expensive. Taehyung, on the other hand, was trying to figure himself out.
He knew that crushing on his roommate would be dangerous for not only him and his reputation but also Jungkook since the boy had enough problems already.
So, of course, Taehyung did the most logical thing he could think of. Make things right with Seoyeon. Not ideal, I know, but the boy just wasn't ready to be out again. At least not yet.
Things didn't go as expected though as Seoyeon was seemingly avoiding him. It started with Taehyung calling her and the line being cut right after the first beep. Obviously, the girl declined his call. He messaged her and called some more, only to get a reply 24 hours later.
The girl wanted to go to a fancy restaurant, saying that it was the only way Taehyung could make it up to her after being nice to his roommate. Taehyung didn't understand why she hated the fact that he was actually respectful towards the younger but went along with it anyway.
He got his allowance from his parents and payed for the awkward date that consisted of annoying small talk and a shit ton of gossip Taehyung didn't care about. But Seoyeon was happy and they were a 'perfect' couple once again.
After the date, Seoyeon didn't contact him, saying she was busy buying school supplies so Taehyung was back to hanging out with his friends and trying to communicate with Jungkook as little as possible since pissing off his girlfriend was the last thing he wanted before the start of the school year.
It was saturday when Jungkook noticed that he forgot to buy a maths book he needed for advanced maths classes. He got dressed in a big hoodie, some jeans and his usual black mask. He took his white writing board and marker as well since he had to tell the worker at the store which book he was looking for.
The bookstore was about a 10 minute walk away so it wasn't a problem for Jungkook. He entered the fairly big shop and passed the large book section, trying to get to the school supplies section of the store but a high pitched voice stopped him.
"Oh look! It's the ugly kookling!"
Jungkook turned around to face the person, only to be met with non other than Taehyung's girlfriend, Seoyeon.
Her behavior was nothing new to him since she would pick on him alongside other bullies with nothing better to do. He just wasn't expecting her to be at a bookstore looking at... books. Seoyeon wasn't stupid. She was just below average not only when it came to her grades but also when it came to general knowledge and her personality would definitely get an F.
Jungkook didn't like her in the slightest but if there was something he was jealous of, it was her looks. People never called her ugly. Perhaps because she wasn't or because everyone was afraid of standing up to her except...
"Wow, you actually know Hans Christian Andersen. And here I was thinking you were illiterate," another girl's voice echoed through the nearly empty store.
Hannah Jackson. A transfer student who Jungkook met four months ago when she sat next to him in english class. She was the sweetest person Jungkook had ever met and was the closest thing the boy had to a friend.
She'd protect him from jerks like Seoyeon whenever she was around and helped him with english whenever he'd struggle. Here she was protecting him once again.
"When are you gonna stop protecting this poor excuse of a human being, Hannah?" Seoyeon snapped, ignoring the girl's previous comment.
"When he gets the confidence he needs to stand up for himself," Hannah calmly responded as she picked up a book from the fantasy section.
