(Eventually, they make their way back to the castle. Charlie helps Michael to his chair. He holds one arm painfully. Marla, Carlton, and Lamar enter. Lamar carries a bowl and cloth to wash Michael's wounds. Marla pours steaming water into the bowl. Charlie dips a clean cloth into the hot water and wrings it out. She reaches for Michael's wounded arm. But he growls and pulls away.)

Charlie: Let me see. Don't do that!
(She reaches for him again, but he won't let her touch his arm.)
Just hold still.
(She gently dabs at the wound. He cringes and howls painfully.)

Michael: OW! That hurts!

Charlie: If you'd hold still, it wouldn't hurt as much.

Michael: If you hadn't run away, this wouldn't have happened.

Charlie: If you hadn't frightened me, I wouldn't have run away!

Michael: Well, you shouldn't have been in the West Wing!

Charlie: And you should learn to control your temper!
(He doesn't have an answer for that. They glare at each other in a silent battle of wills. Michael looks to Marla and Carlton, who avert their eyes. Charlie dips the cloth in hot water again and wrings it out.)
Now hold still, this may sting a little.
(She dabs gently at the wound on his arm. He winces but doesn't pull away.)

Charlie: By the way...thank you for saving my life.

Michael: You're welcome.

Marla: Well, that's more like it. I knew they could get along if they tried.

Carlton: So the ice is broken...at last.

Lamar: And not a moment too soon either. Have you taken a good look at the rose lately? It's losing petals at an alarming rate!

Marla: Not to mention the fact that I can hardly bend over at all anymore.

Carlton: Clearly, it's time for us to give them a little push. A nice romantic way to draw them closer together.

Marla: I have just the thing!
(To Michael and Charlie)
How about we warm you two up with a nice bowl of soup?
(Carlton and Lamar look at each other.)

Carlton and Lamar: Soup?

Marla: Trust me.
(Marla, Carlton, Michael, and Lamar huddle. A small table tracks on. Jason sits on top.)

[Charlie]
There's something sweet
And almost kind
But he was mean
And he was coarse and unrefined
But now he's dear and so unsure
I wonder why I didn't see it there before
(Marla indicates the chair to Michael. He lifts the chair as Charlie crosses to it. He clumsily slides it in beneath her. She falls into the chair. Michael crosses to his chair and perches, unable to sit. Charlie raises her bowl...Michael follows suit.)

Jason: Cheers!

Marla: Come along, dearie. Let's get you out of those wet things.
(Marla leads Charlie off. As they go, Charlie looks back and indicates that he should wipe his mouth.)

[Michael]
She glanced this way, I thought I saw
And when we touched she didn't shudder at my paw
No, it can't be...I'll just ignore
But then she's never looked at me that way before
(To Lamar and Carlton who approach)
When she smiles at me, I get all choked up. My heart starts pounding and I can't breathe!

Lamar: Good!

Michael: That's good?

Carlton: Excellent!

Michael: I've never felt this way about anyone. I want to give her something, but what?

Lamar: Well, there's the usual things: flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep.
